I connected accessories(not included in this offer) and after an afternoon of testing including on the air audio reports I felt pretty good about it. The next morning I decided to disconnect the external speaker to determine how it operated on the internal speaker. To my surprise. When I turned the mode switch to CW and advanced the audio level a loud tone blared from the speaker that only stopped when I switched to another mode. ... moreIt seemed as though the audio was going into self oscillation. I had operated CW the day before with no problems so I hooked up a key again. Turned down the audio gain and keyed the rig. The power popped up. Tone blared and power dropped to zero. After a series of function tests and turning knobs with the same results I plugged in an external speaker. Voila! No blaring tone and the power output was as expected. Next I disconnected the external speaker and plugged in the headphones. Again! No blaring tone and the power output was as expected. As a result. This iCOM IC-R75 Communications Receiver is in excellent condition. It is like new. I bought it new about four years ago. I powered it on several times. It has been on a total of about ten hours. It can be used as-built but the reason I was interested was its ability to connect to a PC and be controlled by software. It uses a RS-232C link.
