Hardinge Sjogren No.2A-D3 Speed Chuck Collet Closer, 2J collets w/ D1-3 cam lock
Up for sale is a Hardinge Sjogren No. 2 speed chuck collet closer that takes 2J collets. It has a bit of discoloration to the metal from use but the front half looks clean. The backside has some surface rust that will come off with a bit of work. I'm not familiar with how these are assembled internally and I don't want to put it back together incorrectly or have spare parts. Electrolysis is a great method. Albeit slow, for gentle rust removal. Evaporust is another good one that works quick but will darken unfinished bare metal. The rubber hand wheel is in good shape with the usual scratches and marks from use. There are no cracks or chunks missing and it is still rubbery and pliable It moves freely but will need some grease to smooth everything out The back plate is for a D1-6 cam lock quick change The condition of this collet is ... morenearly identical to another that I have for sale in another auction. Up for bid is a Hardinge Sjogren No. 1 quick change collet chuck for 1J collets. These are very similar to 5C collets but are slightly shorter and have a different angle on the head. This allows for a tighter clamping force to be applied to the workpiece with the same wheel torque as a 5C The closer is in great condition with just some scuffs on the hand wheel. The bare metal has no rust and operates very smoothly.
