This is a nice clean horizontal& vertical 5C collet indexer. The label says"NEWS& Yamato Koki" NEWS was the importer of Yuasa tools before Yuasa International started importing directly. Yamato Koki is one of the 5 Japanese companies that manufacture Yuasa Tools. This unit is in very good operating condition. The spindle nose is very good. There is one small spot on the threads that looks like it was hit with a grinding wheel(see picture) The inside of the spindle nose is perfect. Both the horizontal and vertical mounting faces are nice with only light scratching. The unit grips very well and releases nicely.The unit has been thoroughly cleaned. Lubticated and repainted. The thread on the spindle nose is 2-1/4 X 8TPI so this accepts a number of common lathe chucks. Payment via Paypal only unless alternate arrangements are ... moremade before bidding. I inherited this Hardinge-Sjogren 5C speed chuck back in 1980 from my father and it has been sitting on my shelf ever since. See the included pictures for the condition. It fits lathes with an L-1 tapered back. All keys are with the boxes, all tools are a little aged from sitting but its tool steel so easy to clean up with a little elbow grease. Zagar 5c lathe Collet Closer, lever operated fits south bend, logan, others?
Hello. Offered for your consideration is a Zagar Collet Rotating 5C chuck for a lathe. it appears to work fine, though it has some cosmetic dings and dents(see pictures) I did not originally use this, so I can't speak to it's former life, but it appears that the closer lever has been repaired by brazing. it does not affect it's function, the lever can be easily moved into the closed position. the way this has apparently been used is interesting. this is a lever-style colllet closer, but the entire thing mounts on the SPINDLE of the lathe, not on the outboard left side of the lathe. also interesting, it's former owner mounted it to a threaded 3" bar, that was apparently also gripped on it's outer periphiry in a 3 or 4 jaw chuck. which might make it faster to mount/unmount, however it might not have been as accurate ... morethat way. the backplate is also bored and threaded with an 8TPI thread. the inside shoulder is 1.496" and the minor diameter of the threads appears to be 1.348. So I believe this to be a 1.5" 8TPI thread which should fit a South bend 9" and many, many other lathes? it's overall outer diameter is about 4.1 inches. it appears to be VERY well made.
