When fully assembled. It stands approximately 15.25" tall and is 8.25" from handle to handle and makes 2-1/2 pints of coffee. It is made of copper or copper plated brass or a combination of the two and has an oil or kerosene container set into the base with a covered wick to make the coffee and keep it warm. The urn itself hooks into the top of the three-footed base and has raised handles at the top that are metal with a turned wood center and ... morethe black wood seems to be either ebony or has been ebonized. The shoulder area has a decorative beaded edge and there is a spigot on the front with a matching black wood knob, which turns freely. There are clover-shaped designs cut out of the metal along the lower edge above the feet. Each foot of the stand has an oval medallion with raised beading as a border. A strainer-like mesh base holds the rounded glass portion that fits into the urn. The glass has acid etched lettering along the top edge that reads: The Sternau Coffee Machine, with a star. Antique Machine Age Industrial Cast Iron Drafting Coffee Table Base Steampunk
Here we have a great antique cast iron base with hand cranks on each side that turn a gear. The gear comes out a little bit above to top of the table base I imagine it would make for a cool adjustable drafting style coffee table. As you can see from the photos these legs are a bit top heavy. I put a small piece of cardboard to hold the two legs together and they stood up fine no problem so I don't think there would be any issue once a top is crafted for them. The bottom of the legs can also be mounted so this could either be mounted to the floor or even on top of a taller table to craft or even the wall. These legs stand about 18 inches tall not counting the gears and cranks.
