This boiler has the brazed ... morein element so when I replaced it I had to order the entire unit. This would be good for a project replacement of the element. I have read that it can be done. The white dots on the top are the thermal paste. The white residue on the inside of the boiler is not scale. It is the magnesium oxide(I believe) which is normally contained in the copper tube of the element(which burst) I believe this boiler was used in a display machine and the user just did not know what they were doing and ran the boiler dry probably after steaming. The base appears perfectly flat and not warped in any way.

I am selling a lightly used Rancilio Silvia(V3) that is in great condition and has been lightly used since purchase in early 2012.
