This is a beautiful Vintage SHERIDAN SILVER OVER COPPER SAMOVAR. COFFEE, TEA, OR HOT WATER URN. I usually used it at holidays for hot water for tea, cocoa or other hot drinks. I found this lovely piece at an estate sale and it is in excellent condition. The inside is oxidized as well as underneath where the burner goes. It was missing the burner when I bought it but can easily be replaced. I used a glass votive dish that fit underneath with tea candles to keep it hot. The only problem I have found, which is very minor, is on the inside of the lid. If you look really close, you can see a small dent in the inside rim that doesn't show. It may have a few minor scratches but can probably be polished out. I did a quick clean on it for pics but will do more cleaning before shipping. Everything works perfectly. A RARE GEORGE 1V OLD SHEFFIELD PLATED TEA URN
This is a rare George 1V old Sheffield plated Tea Urn. It stands on four ball shaped feet and is complete with its burner. Fitted with ring handles on either side in a lions head. Plated on copper. This is a fine example of early Sheffield Plate. It measures 44 cm high x 32 cm. Beside being large it is also very heavy, hopefully I have allowed this in the shipping costs.

It may be the earliest example(See Waldron) From the famed London firm of Smith& Sharp in 1762. As such. It is also by a year, the earliest known piece from the firm. The nearest being a 1763 salver(See Grimwade) It bears the coat of arms of Baron Kenyon. A seated lion with cross atop crowne. Shield flanked by maiden. One with halo and sun symbol. Motto translated"Carry the cross generously" Also with 1885 presentation from friends around Telsmore to Lloyd 4th Baron Kenyon on coming of age. A few more words on Smith& Sharp. They crafted silver for Parker and Wakelin in the 1760s. Later for the royal goldsmiths Jefferys. Jones& Gilbert. Cassic ... moreovoid form. Centre with Baron Kenyon arms as noted. Elegant streaming leaf and berry garland. Suspended from ribbon and bow. The drop ring handles are half sterling and half rosewood. A rarely seen design feature. I have up for sale an absolutely wonderful vintage. To the best of my knowledge early 19th Century, unsigned but attributed to Sheffield Plate or atleast British in origin, Egyptian Revival Samovar Tea Urn. This is not an area of personal expertise but from the ornamental designs and item type, I believe that the urn would date from approx 1800- 1815, probably closer to 1815 due to the amount of ornamentation. I did some research on this and similar examples were from approx 1815 as the amount of decoration increased, shortly after this the style changed, no longer having the ball feet and long slender legs.It may date as to as far as 1850 but I believe it is earlier. The Arab Crescent is representative of the Ottoman Empire and the other design features consistent with Silver of the 19th Century. I would appreciate any input from those more ... moreknowledgeable. There are no manufacturer markings that I can see. The only marking is the word Patent which is located on the front of the spigot. Recently I read an article written specifically about Tea Urns in Sheffield Plate, by Gianmarco Baldini of the ASCAS Association of Collectors of Antique Silver, in the article a very similar urn was pictured- dated to 1810- also noted was that he said that Old Sheffield Plate was never marked. The interior is not lined and there is no heating device. This urn is very early. Made prior to the time when a burner was used for the heat. The majority of tea urns were made with no apparatus for keeping the contents hot. The idea was to heat a piece of iron and insert it in a small container fitted to the inside of the urn. In later version the tea urn was fitted with an internal cylinder for the charcoal. The Urn stands approx 17" to the top of the Crescent Finial. Approx 11" across the Ring Pull Handles, approx 13" from back to front spigot. Te approximate weight is 11 lbs. The sphinx figure on the bottom section is bolted into place from the underside. Vintage Silver Plated Samovar, Tea Urn, Beautiful, Classic, Resplendent, Tea
This gorgeous silver plated samovar is sure to attract attention! Works great as a vessel for serving liquids or as a display piece. No mark but Im pretty sure its Sheffield. Comes with lid and burner. The burner is filled with a liquid that is used to ignite the wick and then heat the samovar. A screw knob lowers and raises the wick depending on how hot the water needs to be. This samovar has very few noticeable flaws. The burner looks a little tarnished and could probably use a new wick. And the vent holes near the bottom have some soot build up. There is only a tiny ding where the spicket hits the pot. Aside from these minor flaws the samovar looks and functions very well. These are often hard to find in such good condition!

Gorgeous Gothic-style circa 1850-1860. The Tea Pot has a number of dings. Most near base resulting in a slight tilt toward the spout- very slight wobble when empty. A shallow dent at the top of the cartouche with no engraving. Handle has been reinforced around the insulators. Some of the compound used dripped on the pot and shows as dark spots around the handle-with work and the right ... morepolish, it does come off as I have removed some of it. Lid does not quite shut tight on one side-see photos. Except for the dings/dents, the metal is still in good condition and shines beautifully. Still very functional. The covered Cream Jug has two dings: one on the skirt beneath the top beading which has a couple of nicks to the left of the ding; and one near the top and right of the cartouche with the monogram"ND" The cartouche with the monogram also has a shallow dent about 1/2 inch diameter. The hinge works well, but a little stiff. The lid does not quite shut completely(see photo) The applied decoration on the handle also has a slight bend at the tip. There is a slight uneveness in the base, but it does not wobble. The photos make the jug look like it tilts, but the surface on which it was photographed was uneven. When placed on a level table, it does not lean. The tea/coffee pot has the Wood& Hughes earlier hallmark used 1833-1871. You are bidding on a M.A. Hadley Coffee Urn(Samovar) When I purchased it I thought it would be used for iced tea or water. M.A. Hadley stoneware is made in Louisville. Kentucky. According to their website this pattern is"Country House" which is a"solid, stable, red roofed home to the farmer, wife, boy and girl" It measures approximately 9 1/2" tall and approximately 10 1/2" across from handle to handle. We purchased this at a"living estate sale" of a couple who were moving from a large farm house to a townhouse. She had lots of M.A. Hadley for sale. I did not realize the coffee urn should have the burner under it so I did not purchase it. As I mentioned earlier, I thought this urn would be for ice tea or water. Up for auction is a hand painted pewter samovar/ tea urn. A beautiful Dutch folk art piece. The painting is a nicely detailed rural scene with a mill and farmhouse on a shaded background that goes from red to black. The tea urn is complete with the brass openwork under tray and brass burner. The tea urn has three legs with wooden ball feet and has a swan faucet handle. It is embossed on the bottom: Peltrato and has a mark of an angel. It measures 16 inches high including tray and lid, the samovar is approx. 6 inches wide at its widest point. Condition: it is old and does have overall paint wear. I have included many pictures to give you an idea of style and condition. The scene is still clear. No dents. The Urn is a great size for display or modern use measuring approx 14-1/2" tall by 11-1/4" wide across the handles and will hold approx 20 cups. The Urn is in excellent condition with no Plate wear, dents, cracks or repairs. Also when we filled it the tap worked perfectly. The only flaw is the knob on the handle looks to have been replaced, this is very minor but we prefer to point out everything. This is NOT a souvenir. This samovar was obviously used for boiling water for a long time and can still be used: It is engraved"AKIVA" on the front. It is a classical samovar form that was popular in 19th century Russia. Some engravings seem to be in Persian. It is about 16" tall and VERY heavy. Please look at the pictures for condition. There is a small crack in metal on the support base, shown on picture# 6. It is a very beautiful piece!

The Tea Caddy Jar is one of the most unusual I have sold. Having not personally seen another quite like it and I am sure being a Rare find. The Tea Caddy Jar is of a great Victorian Urn form with some of the finest and most crisp Repousse designs I have seen including an interesting Drape and Tassel motif around the top, Sea Shells and Acanthus Leaves around the lower portion. The detail is much finer than my photos show. The Tea Caddy is in excellent all original condition with no dents, cracks or repairs. The Tea Caddy is also a great size for display or modern use and the lid fits nice and tight to keep your Tea or Spices fresh. The Tea Caddy stands approx 7" tall and measures 3-1/4" wide with a quality weight of 176 grams. This fine 19th Century Sheffield Silver English tea/ coffee urn or samovar has an armorial of the Turnbull family. The arms are engraved above the spout. The arms consist of a bull’s head erased above a knight’s helmet; the central shield with three wheat sheafs; below is a riband with the motto. Fortuna Favet Audaci[Fortune Favors the Daring] The urn is missing the lid. The urn measures 15 3/4 inches high(16 1/4 to the top of the handles) and is 11 inches wide. There is some wear around the base. There are numerious small dents and dings, but they do not effesct the overall beauty of the piece. It is particularly attractive with a bouquet of flowers. This is an old antique lovely Homan silver plate warranted quadruple plate 2237 special metal hot coffee or tea urn from lovely estate. It has a grape motif and is 14 1/4" by 11" by 8 1/4" The handles are wood and one has a crack line. See photo. The bone nobs each have a small hairline not really note worthy. See photos. I see copper showing through on the nob at the spot from use. See photo. The silver is in nice condition. The tag on the bottom looks very old. It weighs under 5 pounds slightly. You should love it.
