NICE BLUE BAUER POTTERY COFFEE SERVER, 30s
This attractive example of vintage California Pottery measures just a tad under 7" high. Not marked but definitely Bauer. No scratches or chips. Although there is some tarnishing to the metal band connecting the wooden handle to the pitcher, as well as some darkening to the upper part of the handle, and a very small white spot on the tip of handle. Has the usual minor glaze imperfections associated with Bauer pieces: one or two tiny glaze bumps and some spotting most of which is visible in last photo. This sounds worse than it appears on display, this is actually in very nice shape for an eighty year old piece of pottery that was made to be used, except for a touch of wear to bottom ring the ceramic body is in virtually new condition. The glaze is still so bright that the upper part shows iridescence under light. Has a nice rustic look ... morethat goes well with Arts& Crafts decor. Returns accepted if not as described. It does not appear to have had much use as it is very clean and the sticker is still intact(see photo) However, the base does have a shallow chip along the base as shown, otherwise, no other damage. There are some glazed over manufacturing flaws which is only mentioned for complete accuracy and are typical of vintage pottery. The gold is mostly intact with the exception of some spots on the lid. It is stamped with Oneida Sambonet Italy and 3 stars on the handle and a 60 on the inside lid hinge as well as on the bottom of the foot. It is a very heavy silver plate that has no tarnish. And the only flaw that I can find is a tiny divot on the inside of the lid that does not show on the outside. You can see this well in the photos. The pot measures 9 inches from spout to handle and stands 7.25 inches high. It looks to hold about a quart or the standard of a 12 cup coffeepot and is truly a beautifully modern looking piece. Vintage" Coffee Server Fine China of Japan by Merchandise Service Inc. Chicago. ILL. It measures approx. 8-1/2" tall x 10" wide. It will hold about 7 cups or 56 fl. oz. It is all white with the green. Blue and red leaves and berry designs around the outside and lid. It also has some silver highlighting lines around the top and bottom edges and the handle. The urn has some normal ... morescratches, and several scuffs, but has no plating loss and has retained a wonderful shine. Found at auction, it did not come complete with burner. The spigot works as it should, but the handle covers show some cracks. The body has no dents, but the inner rim of the lid has some light bends/dents, as shown. It does not wobble on its' own, but if you push back and forth it will rock a tiny bit(maybe 1/16"some felt pads placed on the feet would most likely take care of it. Up for auction is a vintage shabby shiny aluminum(I think) coffee/tea server. It measures approx. 8” tall. It is pretty scratched and the inside is very corroded. So it would not be suitable to be used-decorative piece only. The handle and the spout are quite decorative. The spout has a little flipper lid on it that opens when pouring. They both stand about 8 3/4" tall and about 6" in diameter at it's widest point. Both hold about 40 to 44 ounces of liquid give or take or about equivalent to a tad under 4 cans of soda pop for a better reference. Good used clean condition with only minor wear from previous use.
