EGYPTIAN REVIVAL Silver Plate SAMOVAR Tea Urn Coffee Server Sphinx Arab Crescent
I have up for sale an absolutely wonderful vintage. To the best of my knowledge early 19th Century, unsigned but attributed to Sheffield Plate or atleast British in origin, Egyptian Revival Samovar Tea Urn. This is not an area of personal expertise but from the ornamental designs and item type, I believe that the urn would date from approx 1800- 1815, probably closer to 1815 due to the amount of ornamentation. I did some research on this and similar examples were from approx 1815 as the amount of decoration increased, shortly after this the style changed, no longer having the ball feet and long slender legs.It may date as to as far as 1850 but I believe it is earlier. The Arab Crescent is representative of the Ottoman Empire and the other design features consistent with Silver of the 19th Century. I would appreciate any input from those more ... moreknowledgeable. There are no manufacturer markings that I can see. The only marking is the word Patent which is located on the front of the spigot. Recently I read an article written specifically about Tea Urns in Sheffield Plate, by Gianmarco Baldini of the ASCAS Association of Collectors of Antique Silver, in the article a very similar urn was pictured- dated to 1810- also noted was that he said that Old Sheffield Plate was never marked. The interior is not lined and there is no heating device. This urn is very early. Made prior to the time when a burner was used for the heat. The majority of tea urns were made with no apparatus for keeping the contents hot. The idea was to heat a piece of iron and insert it in a small container fitted to the inside of the urn. In later version the tea urn was fitted with an internal cylinder for the charcoal. The Urn stands approx 17" to the top of the Crescent Finial. Approx 11" across the Ring Pull Handles, approx 13" from back to front spigot. Te approximate weight is 11 lbs. The sphinx figure on the bottom section is bolted into place from the underside. It is in Excellent Condition- I see no dings or dents. Nor any break

It measures close to 15"s tall and about 7lbs! It is heavy& Gorgeous! The hallmark is the hallmark for Simpson Hall Miller& Co. Established in 1866 in Wallingford CT. Organized in 1866 by Samuel Simpson. Became part of International Silver Co. in 1898. So its safe to say it is c.1880s. Beautiful design detail all over! On side looks like the center of the detail design was left for a family crest or monogram and it was never used. The handle is strong! I love the lion head design on the handle! Beautiful spout has a door on the inside that pushes open when pouring. It does have one ding on the left side near the bottom of the handle. The lid knob and handle are a black bakelite. The enamel is still in pretty good condition. There is one larger flake near the bottom. One smaller one near the top and a tiny one on the edge of the pot as well as two on the inside bottom. There is some wear on the edge of the spout and there are flakes on the edge of the lid. There is some scratching on the bottom. The handle is faded but sturdy. You are bidding on a large antique silver-plated coffee teapot server. This item was made by the Hall. Miller, and Elton Company. It does have a couple dings on it, but other than showing normal signs of wear and tarnishing, it is in overall good condition. The item is porcelain-lined. The lid of the item needs to be re-attached[if preferred] and the top rim appears to be a little uneven which is likely from the natural wear of the item. This is a beautiful white porcelain tea/coffee server. It stands about 7" tall and is about 4" wide at the base. It comes with a chrome cover to keep things warm. The porcelain is in excellent condition. Showing very little ware on the bottom. There is one tiny chip under the lip of the spout as shown in the last picture(it is TINY) The inside is clean, with no stains. The chrome shows a few surface scratches from use, but is still very shiny and beautiful as shown in the pictures.

This is a beautiful Hall China Jewel Tea Large Capacity Covered Coffee Server in the Classic Autumn Leaf Pattern. It is 9" tall and 8" across the top from the tip of the spout to the top edge of the handle. The top diameter is 4-5/8" and the bottom diameter is 3-7/8" The autumn leaf pattern is clear and vivid. As is the gold on the lid and around the top diameter. There is some minor wear to the gold on the right side of the spout and on the sides of the handle, as is characteristic of a piece this age. Here is a NOS Hull brown drip#522 coffee server that is left over inventory from a retail pottery shop I ran many years ago in Zanesville. Ohio. It has been in storage for a long time. I don't know how the lid got chipped but it may have been a display item. People would invariably pick items up and turn them over so that the lids would fall off. Here we have a vintage Metlox CLASSIC FLOWER coffee pot in excellent condition. The Classic Flower pattern was made in 1964 and is hard to find today. This coffee server stands 10" tall with the lid and measures 8.5" from spout to handle. It is free of chips. Cracks, crazing, scratches or stains and is clean inside and out. It is stamped on the bottom although the black ink mark is hard to read. I believe it says"Vernon Ware by Metlox, Made in California" Very nice!
