Up for bid is a good used 1/2" by 9 foot 1 inch logging chain. The label tag reads WLL: 9200 Lb. HOR: SN: x, Size.5, Grade: 43, Reach 9 ft 1 in. On the other side the label says Branches. From what I know about chains the wwl is the working load limit, The HOR checked means horizontal use and not for transport, recovery, or overhead lifting. The grade 43 chain has the same rating as a grade 40 and is high test carbon steel chain. The reach is measured from the inside of each grab hook, the overall length will be a little more. There was a name change from Simonds Saw Works to Simonds Saw and Steel Company. This is one of a set of saws that were discovered in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Part of a shipment to a mining company, later found by a metal scrapper and luckily set aside for the last 30 plus years. These were found cartoned up with original wrapping, however a bit of moisture had entered the packing and caused light rusting in some areas. I have cleaned these spots carefully. This Bucking blade has ALL ITS TEETH in the Champion Tooth Pattern. The gilt shadow box frame is lined with a time-faded red felt to which are attached 7 different types of logging tools all hand carved. The gentleman who crafted this work of art. Denzil Van Gorder, included his signature inside the shadow box. This is being sold as found on our Summer buying trip in upper Wisconsin. A bit of Google-searching shows the artist passed on at the age of 91 in 2002 in the North Woods area of Wisconsin. This Logging Tool Shadow Box is a remnant of the talent he left behind. This sale is for a off-highway 7000 + gallon water truck. The truck was bought used and then remanufactured from the ground up in 1989. At that time it was also built into a water truck. This water truck has very low hours/miles on it since it was built. Two of the photos show this truck working on a earth fill dam. The truck: LM Mack with many modern components including: Engine- 8V92T Detroit with Jake brake. Transmissions- main, Fuller 13 speed double countershaft. aux. trans. Spicer/ Dana 4 speed. Steering- Ross with integral power steering. Cab- Mounted inline. The original was off-set. Rear axles Mack 80 thousand pound double reduction. Front axle- Later model Rockwell 20 thousand pound. Late model air brakes with 36" by 36" piggy back spring brakes on both rear axles. Front axle also has late style brakes. The tire size all ... morearound is 1200R24. Some of the truck measurements are; Height approx. 10 1/2 ft. Overall width approx. 9 ft. Tank width 8' 8" Over all truck length is 36 ft. 6 in. Some of the measurements could be adjusted somewhat for the purposes of hauling. Water system: Tank- 7000 gallons. Steel with many baffles, including two that run full length of the tank, directly above each of the trucks frame rails. Water pumps- 1st 6" by 5" mounted on the left frame rail PTO driven. 2nd. 6" by 5" mounted on the right frame rail also PTO driven. 3rd 6" by 6" mounted on rear of truck powered by a 2-71 Detroit. This is a photographic glass magic lantern slide. Black and white, labeled, Huge steam traction dray hauling logs in a logging camp, Calif. The Keystone View company was started in Meadville, Pennsylvania by B.L. Singley, who previously was a salesman for Underwood& Underwood. In 1898 Keystone began making and selling stereoscopes. In 1905 Keystone View Company began its Educational Department, selling views and glass lantern slides(the forerunner of the photo transparency, later used in slide projectors) to schools throughout the country. They also produced lantern slide projection equipment. Although this slide was produced by Keystone, it is not part of the Keystone 600 series but is part of the"Social Studies" series. Lantern slides are one of the best untapped sources of antique photographs there are. Slides were usually ... morediscarded after a relatively short period of use so are difficult to find. Is clean with no rust or pitting, has a nice boldly struck logo with a star under the company logo, only shows a few incidental dings, has a wide blade measuring 5 3/8 inches wide, head measures nearly 6 1/4 inches long, hatchet measures 14 inches total length with handle that is solid but does show on early sliver tight split near the handle but does not affect the usability of this nice older broad hatchet. Not familiar with the Lakeside Saw& Tool Co. logo as it must have been an earlier logo used before they were bought or used in conjuction with the M. Ward Co. Up for auction is a nice straight 2 man crosscut saw in good condition. The blade is 72" long and 6 1/2" wide at the widest point. The blade has pitting on both sides but has been cleaned of any loose rust and lightly oiled. There are no missing teeth.The handles are good solid useable handles and fit tight to the saw. There is a small piece broken off the hardware to one handle( pic 9) but it in no way affects the usability of the handle. A great looking saw that is ready to display.
