This is"The" unit to have if you are serious about tone. I own 2 and only have use for 1. Use it as a analog to digital converter for your daw or as a rock solid stand alone 24 track tape machine. It has 24 analog ins and 24 analog outs. It can also go both directions of conversion simultaneously. For example. You can send individual tracks or stems from your DAW and run Radar at mixdown as 16 D to A's to my analog comps, then summing back into Radar A to D- spdf back into my DAW. I also use the existing 6 converters as my D to A conversion to my amplifiers for my monitoring(playback) Feel free to email me if this is confusing) I come from an analog background and this is the closest sound to tape I have found. Not only is it a great sounding machine.It can also be used to clock your entire studio's digital gear. One way ... moreto test your converters is to record live drums with your existing converts and side by side record with the radar converters and AB them. In my case the other converters were the ADAT HD24. The difference will knock you over. All I can say is the Radar kept all transients in tact without sounding electronic. Totally natural and huge. The other converters sort of compressed and made everything small and frankly more digital sounding for lack of a better term. I can no longer record without the trust of these converters. People pay alot of money for what I do and Radar is the heart of it all.period. You would be surprised how many protools studios use Radar as it's conversion. Protools converters simply do not sound as large and natural to me as these converters. I could go on and on. Another good test is the Lynn Fuston converter shoot out. I picked the Radar and Manley Slam converters time after time in a blind test as the best sounding to me. The Slam sells for over $8000.00 for a stereo pair.
