This machine is configured to be used as an 8922P. Using an external converter. To accomodate this configuration, the attenuator that is normally in the RF IN/OUT path is bypassed. Without the 83220 converter connected, the machine displays a warning to the operator that the converter is not connected and the 8922 by itself cannot handle the input power expected from a cellular telephone under test. Notwithstanding, the 8922M understands that the 83220 converter is not in the signal path and the levels are accurate. This machine fully passes the power on self test. And all of the internal test programs that run on the internal IBASIC controller, ... moreexcept for the programs which test the PCS bands(they depend on the 83220 converter.
