The Beckman Coulter CEQ 8000 Genetic Analysis System is flexible enough to adapt to a broad spectrum of applications. Yet accessible enough to accommodate a broad spectrum of users. It is an excellent option for de novo DNA sequencing, heterozygote detection, confirmatory sequencing, mutation analysis, allele identification, SNP scoring, microsatellite instability, AFLP fingerprinting, and gene expression. This system automatically fills the capillary array with a patented linear polyacrylamide(LPA) gel, denatures and loads the sample, applies the voltage program, and analyzes the data. Software tools let you rapidly review data quality and even customize automated data assessment. The modular gel cartridges are easily replaced. The same microplate is used for both thermocycling and sample introduction, eliminating sample transfer error. Biomek series liquid handlers and Allegra and Avanti series centrifuges are compatible with CEQ 8000. A pre-assembled capillary array is the separation vehicle. An array of eight capillaries takes full advantage of the 96-well plate format while reducing the cost and complexity associated with larger arrays. Samples are automatically denatured online prior to introduction. The use of on-column laser-induced fluorescence with auto-capillary alignment ensures sensitive reliable detection. While the use of inexpensive diode lasers to excite infrared dyes provides higher sensitivity at a fraction of the cost of argon ion lasers.
