Heat Sink For 50-100 Watt LED DIY Project
USED CPU Heat Sink I used a few of these making 100 watt LED outside flood lights for a friend. These were left over and I'm selling them to make room for more"good things to sell" I included a couple of pictures to show how I used them. The last two pictures are of the 100 watt LED on. HUGE ALUMINUM HEAT SINK!
This massive. Aluminum heat sink measures 10-1/2” x 30” and weighs 23 lbs! The flat surface is 3/8” thick, except at the perimeter, which is 5/16” thick. Overall thickness(flat + fins) is a little greater than 2-1/4” Fins taper from 3/32” to 1/8” thick. Although used, there is still a huge amount of untouched area on the large, flat surface. Heat sink is fairly clean. Will package securely for shipping.

This is a massive bonded fin heat sink that came out of a large VFD to dissipate heat for several IGBTs. This thing can dissipate a lot of heat. The fin density is higher than any extruded sink. I would keep it for my projects but I already have few. The surface corrosion cleans up very nice with some aluminum mag wheel polish. I got another one to a mirror shine. We checked the transformer with the diode arrays unhooked. Got a good 13.5 Volts from the centertap. Then we checked the diode arrays(unusual ac,ac,+,+ terminals) Very high current as they are using 4 individual diode pairs in the two rectifier cubes. They checked out so hooking them up worked okay. They use spade lugs on these diodes making testing real nice. Then we hooked up everything and brought up the power using a variac, the power transistors were all equally warm(4 of them) It drew around 5 amps with out load, but there ... morewas absolutely no output(or burned part smell either which is great) This supply has two current boards, and one controller board. you can see it in the pictures. The largest three are 4.5 inches long Great as a starter for a 40 Amp 12 Volt DC power supply. Or you can repair it. After determining that the power switch pilot lamp only works sometimes. We checked the transformer with the diode arrays unhooked. Got a good 13.5 Volts from the center tap. Then we checked the diode arrays(unusual ac,ac,+,+ terminals) Very high current as they are using 4 individual diode pairs in the two rectifier cubes. They checked out so hooking them up worked okay. They use spade lugs on these diodes making testing real nice. Then we hooked up everything and brought up the power using a variac. Might be something wrong with the regulator control board. ... moreThe pass transistors seem okay. An easy fix would be to add a modern controller and run the existing transistors with it. Don't know exactly what is wrong, just know what does work. PLEASE EMAIL any questions before bidding. Packing weight is 30 lbs to give you an idea of the transformer goodness in this box.
