Tektronixs TDS644A 500Mhz 4 Channel Digital Oscilloscope with color display
This is a Tektronix TDS-644A 500Mhz 4 channel oscilloscope with color display. It has a sample rate of 2Gs per second. The color display is really nice in that it allows you to easily see your settings and readouts for each channel. You can even set the readouts to all kinds of colors. Don’t know why you would need that but you can do it. I got this from a friend who bought it off e-bay a few years ago and it didn’t work when he got it. I did some research and found that many Tektronix scopes suffer from surface mount electrolytic capacitors leaking on their analog board and causing the ACQ failure on the power up tests. I replaced ALL of the electrolytic capacitors on the analog board and then cleaned up all residual leaked electrolyte. I gave the board a good soak and scrub in alcohol. Then a rinse and scrub under the faucet, and then let ... morethe board dry in the sun. After installing the board and running the scope’s internal calibration routines it works well! The scope has far too many features to list. You can have data readouts(voltages. Periods, pulse width, frequency, overshoots, etc) that can be assigned to just one channel or any of the other channels. Makes taking measurements so much nicer. The cursor functions allow for time or voltage(and even both at the same time) differentials to be easily measured(no need to count grids and do math in your head) It even has FFT functions but I have never played around with those. You can even save setup configurations as well as record waveforms on the scope or save/copy them to the floppy. This is clearly the best scope I have ever gotten my hands on. In fact. Its actually overkill for my needs. I have another(lesser) Tektronix scope that works well for me. I have had this guy for a couple years and had a hard time deciding to sell it. But, there is another very expensive piece of equipment that I want for developing a gizmo I want to produce so I gotta raise bucks to buy it.
