This Barteldes Seed Catalog is in excellent condition. All 96 pages are perfect. No tears. Writing or underlining. Corners are very good. It has had very little handling. It also contains a 4 page insert relating to the Conkey products of feed and health remedy’s for poultry. The insert is done in red highlights and border with more of a navy blue in the lettering. The original order form is still attached and in the catalog and also has no writing or damage of any kind to it. The catalog was printed by the Combe Printing Company St. Joseph. Missouri The catalog has its original staples. And the ABSOLUTE only defect in the catalog is a slight 1” tear at the base of the spine. There is no date on this catalog but I believe it to be in the 1905 to 1910 era because it only includes the Lawrence. Antique 10 Drawer Hinged Lid Montgomery Ward Seed Tool Storage Chest Cabinet Box
This is an unusual antique 10 drawer chest with an additional compartment in the top under the hinged lid. I originally thought it might have been used for tools. But I found an old seed sales tag from 1944 on the inside for Wards Shady Lawn Seed Mix and a tag from the Department of Agriculture in St. Paul, MN(included) The side of the chest is marked Montgomery Ward& Co, Winona, MINN, so I believe it could have been used for seeds. It measures 24" L x 13" W x 31" H. Some of the drawers have a hole drilled through the bottom toward the front edge(visible in the 11th photo, looking down at open drawers) The lid has a latch on the front so it can be locked. All drawer hardware looks original. It is in very good condition overall. Joints are tight, and nothing is loose or broken but there are a few small chips missing from ... morethe wood. The finish on the lid and around the top is quite scuffed and there are some visible dings and shallow gouges, but the aged patina is fantastic. The drawers, sides, and back have a lighter finish and are in very good condition with some light scuffs and a few paint splashes and marks. The only species of its kind in its own group. The only visual resemblance it has to other tubular Rhipsalis is its pencil-type growth. Otherwise it is easy to identify because its stems are covered with fine white hairs growing from the areoles. In sunlight the stems can become tinged red. Flowers are slender and bell-like but open widely. Appear at the ends of the stems so on the longer stems they will hang downward.
