Large Vintage/ Antique Southwest Seed Basket Antique American Tribal Grass Coil
A wonderful vintage American tribal basket that measures almost 17" in diameter and just under 2" high at outer edge. Artisan unkown so listing according to policy. It is a very tightly woven coil basket that when held to light you can see maybe three or four pin holes of light coming through. The coils themselves are less than 1/8" wide. It has leather on outer edge that does show some wear typical of age and the finish knot looks to have come undone so there is a little tail of about 2" there that could be retied if desired. And also has leather on inner surface that also shows a little wear and a few minor spots of staining. There are a couple small areas on one side that has a little fading or light soiling to it. I do not clean or attempt to repair any item of this nature because I believe as close to original is ... morealways best. Some surface rust on the spinner and hopper, it could be cleaned up and painted or just use it as is, I have not cleaned it up, you are getting it just as it is dirty from years of shed storage. Selling a primitive grass seed rake/harvester. Constructed of wood and steel. Painted a faded blue showing appropriate wear for its age. Framework attached to the side with small square nails. Back is lolipop in shape with a D-shaped cutout for a handle. Stamped steel rake teeth are attached to themselves with a riveted steel strip. Back of teeth are attached via screws to the framework.
