The entire unit is approx. 30’ in length and consists of 4 main parts.The 1 st part being the“potato hopper” which shuffles the newspapers around as they climb the paddle belt and drop onto a conveyor which is the 2 nd part. The 3 rd part is the shredder unit. The shredder is a Rotochopper 1090 and is run by a Weg 30hp 3-phase electric motor. From the shredder the paper is fed into a modified 336 John Deere baler which is the 4 th part. The baler is run by a Weg 15hp 3-phase electric motor. I’ve been told both of these motors could be switched out for single phase motors and still work the same. The paper bales are adjustable in size just like if you were baling hay with it. There is no kicker on the baler.We’ve been using this method of chopping paper for 10+ years now. We used the paper bedding in our own cow barn and have also sold it to other farmers. Hello! This shredder is in very good working condition. I shredded all the papers you see just before I took the photos. The removable wire frame that holds the garbage bag is taped up on one corner as seen in the last photo. And there are some scuffs and scratches, especially in the part where you feed the papers as can be expected but overall this is a nice machine. I'm not sure how they had it wired up as the wires just hang out the back. I just cut an old cord and attached it to the wires to test it out and make sure all was well(see pics) This shredder was simply the victim of an office upgrade.
