Antique AURORA Silver AESTHETIC Ornate Engraved Tilting Hot Water/Coffee Pot
Here is a very ornate antique silverplated hot water or coffee tilting pot with stand and matching cup. It is marked as made by the Aurora Silver Plate Mfg Co and is triple plated. The pieces are numbered 44 for the pot. 044 on the stand and 047 on the bottom of cup. It is definately from the Aesthetic movement period with multi-motif Japanese influence. It is richly engraved with a floral like swag or curtains with tassels. Below the spout has what looks to be figural ears of corn. It has bands that are decorated with flowers, wheat and running dog or fox. The cup is also engraved with a floral motif and the same band with the fox/dog on it. It also has a face on the handle. The stand too has the same dog/fox band with very ornate deocorative openwork. The base has a little deocrative stopper to keep the pot from tipping backwards. The pot ... moreis double walled and has a little metal flapper on the inside of the spout. Sadly this grouping is not perfect. The little decorative piece of scrollwork on the underside of the stand's handle has broken out. But is included as you can see it in the photo. Also the end of the little side hook to hang the cup is broken off and missing. The lower area below the spout looks a a little pushed in, not sure if this is normal and is from when it was made or not. It seems to be a pretty sturdy piece and pushing this in would be pretty hard. Below the spout in the open area it is engraved with a date of"Sept. 14, 1881" The base of the cup is a little bent so it does not sit pefectly flat. I have to say though I don't think this pot was used much at all. The plating looks really nice, hardly any scratching and it is quite clean inside and out, this goes for the cup as well. The stand measures about 16 3/4" tall to the top of handle. The pot measures about 11" tall and almost 6" wide across the base. The cup is about 3 7/8"tall. Aurora Silverplate Mfg Co 11 1/4 " holder for glass tumbler vase old estate
11 1/4 inches tall. An old silverplate holder of some type, marked Aurora Mfg Co Warranted Triple Plate 234 on the base, some wear to the plating, on outside, and some of it looks to have a lacquer like finishin on it. The round item that goes in it would be between 5-6 inches tall, and the diameter of the bottom part of the holder is 2 1/2 inches and diameter of the round circle up in center of holder is 2 3/4 inches. With a few odd ball things in the lot as well. Be sure to check out the photo's closely since they do show the items well. And the lot is SOLD AS IS SINCE THIS IS A MIXED GROUP! The figures with bases look like they were glued on a battlefield at one time but most are still in very nice shape. Some have tiny tabs under the feet, but there are some which have a broken tab, and a few with a different structure issue. The standing ones are around 24-25mm tall, which is just shy of 1" tall, one little Jeep is still in nice shape overall but missing a gun as the hole has a broken ... morepiece in it, still nice piece that is about 40mm long overall. Other Jeep has missing windshield and broken rear axle but some nice parts. There are some pieces which have some paint on them, there are a couple of silver figures that include a nurse and business man, about 22mm tall, then there are a couple of bunkers that are good, just some glue remains. There are 7 palm branches that I believe are from the Marx Battleground series. But looks like just 2 are nicer with most of the stem or plain part, while the others have broken branch parts(not the leaf ends) There are some small shells that are 20mm long. There are 2 belts which are intact well, just one has a ding on an edge but very good pair, about 135mm long overall. Some other misc items as shown in the photo's.
