8" Single Sheave Snatch Block Pulley Wire Rope Swivel Hook w/quick release
This is an old pulley that I used to pull wires with a rope. I have had it since Moby Dick was a minnow. I don't plan on ever using it again. The safety latch is bad and needs to be replaced. The pulley spins free. It is a little rusty. But it has been stored inside for the most part. The hook and pulley bearings seem to be fine. It has a quick release. for pulling electric cables that's almost a necessity. The pulley diameter across the center is 8" this should be about 3 tons. Let me know if you need more measurements.

Up for auction is this vintage snatch block. I can make out"on" on it but nothing else. That leads me to believe it may be a DRH Johnson. I found it in a garage I bought. It was one of several mounted to an I-beam overhead and had a sign saying"Max. Safe Operating Capacity 10 Tons(20.000 lbs. I don't know if that is the actual rating of this piece though. I would have to assume that the rig would be labeled for the weakest component so I would also assume that this is 10 tons or more. The smallest one had a 6" pulley so I'm assuming that would be the one rated at 10 tons and this should be significantly more. It's about 20" from tip of the hook to the bottom of the pulley. The pulley is about 8 inches in diameter and looks like it had a 1" diameter cable. It's a little filthy and has some surface ... morerust but the hook swivels and the pulley rotates freely. Even though it's small this solid steel block measures 8 inches from the very tip top to the bottom of the sheave. The main part of the block without the hook, the part that hooks to a strap) measures 6 inches. The sheave measures 4 inch across, the outside edge to outside edge of the sheave measures 1-1/2 inches, and the sheave has a 1 inch"V" for cable or rope or? See the photos for the measurements. This chunk of steel weighs nearly 9-1/2 pounds. I could not find a Skookum number on it anywhere but the closest match from the Skookum catalogs is a Skookum A-4, SWL-5T with a max rating of 5 tons. 12 TON? DUAL CABLE PULLEY SNATCH BLOCK Military 10 inch diameter wire 3/4 - 1"
I'm not sure of the exact weight this can hold but it's ALOT! I've seen 8" ones on ebay that are very similar that claim they can do 12 Ton. This is 10" in diameter and around 22" long. It can easily handle 3/4" or 7/8" cable and maybe even 1" I've tried to take as many pictures as I can. The weight of this pulley is 90 lbs. It's available for local pickup or I could possibly drop it off if you live somewhere in Ohio. Please don't ask me to quote shipping charges. I'll work with you on shipping but the cost is the cost. It will have to be boxed and put on a pallet but I would guess the total weight after packaging will be 115lbs with the pallet and materials.
