This auction is for one Ansco Amateur Printing Machine and Dark Room Lamp- Early 1900's. Produced in the early 1900's by Ansco of Binghamton. New York for the use of photographers to make prints. It consists of a wooden box containing two electric lamps, one a 16 candlepower lamp for exposing of the print and the other a small ruby red pilot light. When the lid is raised and the negative and paper are placed in position, the ruby lamp is lighted, thus affording the operator an opportunity to look through his negative and properly placing his mask and paper. The action of closing and locking the lift extinguishes the ruby light and automatically turning on the white light. After the proper interval of printing has elapsed, the release of the catch lifts the lid and turns off the white light and turns the ruby lamp back on. It takes ... moreany size from 5 x 7 on down. This is a Protectograph check printing machine. Model E, from the G.W. Todd and Company of Rochester N.Y. Machine will print dollar value of check so that it can not be forged or miss-interpreted. This indorser is from the early part of the 20th century-probably around 1920 or earlier. Endorser still functions and is in very good overall condition. It does have a few minor cosmetic paint chips and scratches but is still very very presentable. Bottom of unit is removable and still houses the eyedropper and small brush for applying the ink to the rollers and it also has the original ink bottle mounted to the inside of the base in a spring mount and has the original tie down string to secure it in place and to hold the stopper fast.
