This is a fully operational HP 7585B technical pen plotter. I have been using it on and off during the last year and it operates flawlessly. The"wave" drawing in the photos was made with the plotter for sale. These plotters were used in the 1990s as the top-of-the-line output device for precision technical and architectural drawings. This plotter can handle media such as paper and vellum in sizes from a standard 8.5 by 11 inches(A size) up to 34 by 44 inches(E size) This plotter has both HP-IB and RS-232(PC serial) interfaces. I have only used it in RS-232 mode. Connected to a PC's serial port. The unit includes a power cord. An accessory tray(shown) as well as extra pen carousels and some pens. No other items are included, no laptop, nothing else. The unit does not come with any software. You will have to locate and install ... moredrivers for your own PC. I have been using it from a desktop PC with Windows 8 but I will not be able to provide any software to the buyer. You will need a program that outputs HPGL, the language these plotters understand. While the unit is fully operational I cannot provide any warranty as these plotters are now discontinued and the manufacturer does not provide any support or service. This plotter has been in storage for many years. It was working at the time it was stored away. Before I listed it here I plugged it in and did is much testing as I could using the buttons on the front panel. It did fetch the pins and draw lines in the direction of the arrow keys when I held them down. The plotter comes with 4 previously opened bags of pens. I am not sure of their quality. But I pulled two out to test the plotter and they did draw lines on the paper. Also included is the original HP Interconnection Guide. This guide shows how to connect the plotter to anything from the HP-41 calculator to various HPP computers. Apple II and IBM PC. As this is vintage electronics I am selling this AS-IS no return. The only thing wrong is that the auto sheet feeder tray doesn't pick up paper very well. But manual loading each sheet works perfectly. Odds are. The auto sheet feeder rubber just needs cleaning, because the paper almost loads correctly sometimes. In some of the photos. I show it printing the Self test page. My son watched me print the test page and was blown away by the sight of this amazing machine drawing faster than your eyes can even follow at times. This plotter is very fast. And you can see the blur of the pen as it moves to quickly for the flash to freeze. On the back it has an RS232 port and an HP-IB port. Though I didn't test the ports. This action is for spare parts to a HP 7586B pen plotter. You get everything shown in the first picture. These parts were removed from Serial Number 2402A00430. The parts will be shipped in two separate boxes. This pen plotter was working when the parts were removed. However, the tip on the pen gripper is broken, and it would not communicate with the computer. Not sure if the communication problem was a problem with the plotter or the computer. HP 7580b plotter that I was trying to turn into a vinyl cutter a while back. I couldn't figure out how to get the software to run it. So I bought an actual cutter. The plotter still works. Or at least did, I did a confidence test with it a few times and all was fine, except the pens are about out of ink(maybe all the way out of ink by now) Someone wrote that you can refill them using India ink, but I'm not sure if that is only black. Also. One of the caster wheels is missing, so it sits a little uneven unless propped up under that foot(you could maybe replace the wheels for a couple $) I have a replacement, but it is a bit smaller than the originals. I bought a special cable(I think because of the age of this machine. You need a special cable to connect it to modern PCs) for it that you can have if I still have it. There's a cable ... moreconnected to it now, but not sure if that was the stock cable or the'special' one I bought.
