Each one can be opened to reveal an oil tank with adjustable wick. They have never been lit. I do not know the age of these items. On 14-Feb-13 at 11:24:40 GMT. Antique Vintage Boat Nautical Marine Oil lamps Port Starboard Green Red Ship
Up for auction are two antique nautical port/ starboard oil lamps. I have yet to see a pair exactly like this with smooth glass. Unfortunately i do not see any markings on them. The body's of the lamp appear to be galvanized but i could be wrong. The lenses of these lamps are in very nice shape with no visable cracks. One is green and one is red. These lamps appear complete minus the one is missing a part out of the bottom as seen in the picture. The only other issue is that the top of the one lamp has a dent and the top has some minor damage. Other then that they would make a great display piece. These are being sold as is. More Nautical Items to Come- Note My User ID I am offering a Refurbished early 1900’s Brass Starboard Navigation Lantern. Based on the design. Craftsmanship, and materials used, it appears to have been made by the Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware Corp. but the"PERKO" tag is not attached. Lanterns of this type were usually mounted on right side of the pilothouse and lighted while underway at night. This lantern measures 12½" tall x 6" wide x 6½" deep and weighs 2 pounds. It has a 4" x 4½" blue 112° dioptric(ribbed) lens which has a barely visible veticle crack just off center. But the glass is not broken and should not be a problem. The lens was originally green but has turned blue due to the manganese glass curing agent used prior to 1915. Also, at sometime in the past a 110 volt light ... morefixture, with 6' power cord and in-line switch, has been added. This nautical artifact has seen extended sea duty and is a prime example of U.S. maritime history. One has red glass and the other has blue, a shade of cobalt. The glasses are in perfect condition. Vintage Starboard (Green) Navigational Lantern
For sale is a vintage starboard(green) running lantern. It is a painted green galvanized metal. This lantern had been used aboard ship for many years and no longer has any original tags or markings. The item shows general overall wear. Bends in the cage arms, bottom and burner are missing, and there are dents in the metal. The glass prizm looks free of cracks and is housed solidly to the lantern body. The piece is dirty overall. The design is the familiar"Wilcox Grittenden& Co. Though, no evidence of this is on the piece itself. It is 8.5"x 6.75" x 5.25" approx. The lantern comes from the remains of the now extinct Arques Shipyard in Sausalito, CA. Nautical ("Red right returning" or Port / Starboard) oil lamps
Pair of oil lamps to decorate any nautical setting. There is no manufacturer name or brand on these. Glass oil reservoirs are about 6 1/2" wide. 5 1/2" high, and have about a 1 3/4" opening on top where the wick holders screw on. The wick holders are tarnished/ oxidized/ rusted. They have 4 vertical rods that could hold a glass chimney. There is also a removable bracket that could hold a shade or globe(see both options in photos) One of the wicks is only about 1 3/4" below the holder. The wick heiht adjustment turns hard and does not move the wick as it should. But can be adjusted manually. The other wick is about 4" long into the oil, and is adjustable with the knob. These are not perfect and look very used. But would be nice decorative and functional pieces in a nautical setting.

There are no dents or scratches on the metal.On the back there is an attachment for hanging on both lamps, with 8 decorative air vents on each. On both wick adjustment knobs is inscribed; E. TWO SUPERB VINTAGE TUNG WOO – HONG KONG COPPER SHIPS LANTERNS PORT AND STARBOARD
Two Vintage Tung Woo– Hong Kong Copper ships Lanterns Port and Starboard Nautical Running Lights Description: These are two copper lights. One starboard with red glass and a label that reads“Tung Woo– Hong Kong– Trade Mark No. EB2874 Starboard” The other one has blue glass and a label that reads“Tung Woo– Hong Kong– Trade Mark No. EK2816 Port. I believe that the glass was blue because the original oil lamp flame was yellow and yellow light going through blue glass was brighter than using just green glass. Each lamp has a carrying handle. The tops open on hinges to one side. With a bolt locking the lids closed. On the back of each lamp is a mounting bracket and a threaded centre hole. These appear to have been at one point oil/ kerosene fuelled lamps. However both the burners have been removed. They could easily be converted into electrical ... morelamps or just have candles inserted. Smaller ones apparently were used on river boats while the larger ones were used on ocean going vessels. Dimensions: Both stand: 22 cm/ 9 ½ inches Weight: 3.5 kg Condition: Both lamps are in good vintage condition. They have a nice genuinely aged patina to the copper(unpolished or cleaned) the original red and green paint has been removed at some point to leaving some areas of paint residue. There are several small holes to the base and sides where the original fittings would have been secured. The glass lenses have no cracks or chips. IT HAS CURVED RED AND GREEN LENSES INSIDE- THE GREEN LENS IS DAMAGED AND HAS A PATCHED HOLE IN IT AND SOME CRACKING. THERE IS A LARGE THREADED LOCKING NUT AT THE BASE AND THE BOTTOM WITH THE BULB HOLDER IN UNSCREWS. THE BRONZE MOUNTING LEG IS ATTACHED TO THE BACK WITH A LOCKING BOLT. Antique STARBOARD SHIP'S SHIPS SIGNAL OIL LANTERN BRASS GLASS NAUTICAL MARITIME
This auction is for an original antique Starboard ships boat signal oil lantern. Made of solid brass and has glass lenses. All the glass lenses are colored glass except the red one. This one was painted and some of the paint has flaked off. The brass has a wonderful old patina and can be polished. Has no nicks. No chips, no dents and no cracked glass. Everything opens and closes as it should. The oil lantern base comes out and has no cracks or holes. Measures approx. 14 3/4 inches tall by 8 3/4 inches wide. Weight is just under 4 pounds unpacked. Great nautical maritime item and is a must for any collector. Found at a recent 85 year estate of a long time Navy Officer and was stored away for years. The chrome is intact with some pitting and rust. It has green and red fresnel type lenses. It's pretty heavy and weighs 1 1/2 pounds. Measures 7 1/2" long by 3 1/2" tall. It has a 3/4" hole in the back for a flag pole. It also a an unusual access hole in the top to access the bulb. It's 12 volt and in great condition for its age.
