This is a very good condition Better Packages Tapeshooter model 100 gummed paper tape dispenser. The water tray has no cracks. Removes as it should and the brushes are good. Only small amount of rust on the body. The front of the casting on the right side of the water holder has some of the metal missing from rust and this can be seen in the photos. It is still solid. The bottom of the tape pressure plate has some discoloration but it is still smooth and the tape wets evenly and completely. The blade mechanism shows surface rust but cuts reinforced paper tape cleanly. Both metal tape width guides are present in the back of the machine and are in good condition. The plastic knob on the tape length adjustment was replaced with a wing nut and rubber washer. Up for bid is a Patented Simplex 10 Paper Tape Dispenser. This is a beautiful. Old, heavy metal paper tape dispenser that you would find in butcher shops, on sales counters or anywhere you needed to have access to packing tape. It measures 14 inches long, 3.5 inches wide and 7 inches high. It is marked: Simplex 10, Better Packages Inc. Patent nos. 18321 and 18322; Shelton Conn. It has directions for use in the lid, and says sharp blade cuts, and uses up to 1.5 inch-paper tape. The only thing I see missing is the brush that moistens the tape. I have found a website that has a parts list and exploded drawing of this item, but it says most parts are discontinued. I think you could use a 1 1/2" paintbrush cut to fit for this replacement.
