The Sakura 8031 is a high resolution printer designed ... moreto print on microscope slides. This printer has three slide magazines that can hold 150 slides each. It uses chemically resistant ink and a UV curing system to print and process smudge-proof slides in less than 4 seconds. This printer was decommissioned from a university lab. It has a Sakura preventative maintenance tag dated 6/2011 and it was decommissioned in early 2012. So the PM was up to date when it was pulled from service. This unit is optioned with the 8033 unload station. It has been partially tested, as follows: The unit powers on and displays code 14(maintenance due or required) The unit responds to the cleaning button and goes through the cleaning routine. When a test print is attempted the unit loads the slide, transports it to the print mechanism and the print head traverses the slide with the correct motion; the slide is moved to the drying station, and the fan and heater work fine but there is no flash lamp installed, and the unit detects that the flash is insufficient and stops the cycle at that point. The optional tray loader indexes correctly and the mechanism that ejects the slide from the dryer operates correctly. In summary, the logic seems to be fine, the mechanisms work correctly, and the sensors correctly detect the presence of slides at various points in the transport mechanism. The unit did not print anything on the test slides, so it is likely that the print head, ink tubing, or pump needs servicing. The ink cartridge that is installed feels like it is mostly full but it is past the expiration date. There are some scuffs and chips on the plastic cover and ink stains on the side of the unit. It comes with 9 slide magazines and 10 trays for the unloading station. I'm selling this slide printer guaranteed to be as described. Good Luck! This printer has three slide magazines that can hold 150 slides each. It uses chemically resistant ink and a UV curing system to print and process smudge-proof slides in less than 4 seconds. This printer was decommissioned from a university lab. It has a Sakura preventative maintenance tag dated 6/2011 and it was decommissioned in early 2012. So the PM was up to date when it was pulled from service. This unit is optioned with the 8033 unload station. It has been partially tested, as follows: The unit powers on and displays code 14(maintenance due or required) The unit responds to the cleaning button and goes through the cleaning routine. When a test print is ... moreattempted the unit loads the slide, transports it to the print mechanism and the print head traverses the slide with the correct motion; the slide is moved to the drying station, and the fan and heater work fine but there is no flash lamp installed, and the unit detects that the flash is insufficient and stops the cycle at that point. The optional tray loader indexes correctly and the mechanism that ejects the slide from the dryer operates correctly. In summary, the logic seems to be fine, the mechanisms work correctly, and the sensors correctly detect the presence of slides at various points in the transport mechanism. The unit did not print anything on the test slides, so it is likely that the print head, ink tubing, or pump needs servicing. The ink cartridge that is installed feels like it is mostly full but it is past the expiration date. There are some scuffs and chips on the plastic cover and ink stains on the side of the unit.
