VTG Sailfish Sailboat Half Hull Model Display Plaque on Marine Plywood Alcort
Here we have a wonderful vintage Sailfish sailboat half hull display model on marine plywood. This Sailfish display has white painted sail with sailfish in blue and the hull is in ivory with a red pinstripe. The rudder. Tiller and keel are all made of a tight grained hardwood and stained the same tone as the marine plywood. Behind the sail and inset into the hull there is a metal mast which is clearly visible. This model display piece is just beautiful. It retains the original varnish or clear coat and there are no touch-up to the paint. The 7/16" marine plywood measures 11 7/8' tall. 9 1/2" wide and the whole plaque will sit 1 5/8" off the wall. The actual model Sailfish measures 9" tall with the keel and 7 7/8" wide. On the back is a flat head screw to secure it together and there are two eye hooks with wire ... moreto hang it. There is crazing in the center of the sail. A few nicks on edges, a scratch towards the right side of sail and light staining at the sail point. On the top and bottom edges of the hull there is nicking with very light loss and the seams of the plywood are visible at certain angles. This is a wonderful vintage Sailfish half hull model in nice condition and it will make a nice addition to any decor or collection. This auction is for a Black Laquer painting on 5/8 thick plywood. Dimensions are 31-3/8" wide by 19-3/4 high. black laquer has a high gloss except in a few places where some dullness is visible. Some very light marks elsewhere if you look close. Lower right corner has some worn off finish. All the painted areas can be felt with your finger tips as they are slightly raised. Including the gold colored Kanji Characters. I do not know whether this is hand painted or whether it was produced by some other method. It does look hand painted. The artist's name might be represented by the vertical characters. The scene to me looks like it is about Mount Fujiyama and some scene from where Fuji is visible, so that is why I think it may be Japanese, but again I don't know, and I am not an art expert, I just think this picture is really cool ... moreand desireable. It does have several marks on the legs as youd expect in a vintage wooden stool. One vertical separation crack in the bottom of one leg that could be reglued. Still very solid and sturdy. It has 3 small tears in the side of the vinyl seat cover as shown in pics. Would look nice with a cleaning and oiling. Vintage TOLEDO UHL STEEL Chair Bent Plywood Back & Seat Restored Black Base.
AUTHENTIC TOLEDO UHL METAL FURNITURE COMPANY DRAFTING CHAIR circa 1940s or 1950s. I just listed a near identical one if you want a matching pair. I PURCHASED TWO TOLEDO CHAIRS IN GOOD CONDITION TWO YEARS AGO AT AUCTION(BUT THERE WERE SOME SCRATCHES AND STAINS ON THE WOOD AND THE ORIGINAL GREEN/BROWN PAINT I DID NOT CARE FOR) FIRST AND FOREMOST: This is no Restoration Hardware knockoff. There is no stamp or sticker visible as it was removed during repainting the base. Then I lost it.what can I say. I'm not a professional handyman or carpenter. I disassembled the chair the best I could but did not want to remove the rivets. All wood was sanded to the grain. Stained with a walnut colonial finish, and given two coats of clear non glossy polyurethane. The steel frame and hardware I painted jet black but I did miss a few spots not wanting to ... moreget paint on the wood. PLEASE INSPECT IMAGES CLOSELY. WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING IF YOU HAVE ANY PLEASE. THIS CHAIR IS EASILY ASSEMBLED AND DISASSEMBLED FOR SHIPPING. I can ship the chair fully assembled but this will likely increase shipping costs so I will disassemble unless the buyer tells me otherwise. Note on assembly. Adjusting, and reassembly of these chairs: You should not need any tools although the four wingnuts that attach the base to the seat can get sticky or rusty in time. I have applied WD-40 for rust prevention. Adjusting seat or back heights inherently means metal on metal so you may scratch the paint. These chairs were made to be rugged and have been kept clean and dry. They are fully operational and original down to the washers] THERE IS NO RESERVE!
