This cute egg factory barn was among Mom's unfinished craft projects. It stands about 8" tall. And the kit includes 1/8" plywood pieces, a brush, paints, and instructions. The paints have dried up, but can easily be replaced with acrylic paints from an arts and crafts store or perhaps some you already have. Pair Unusual Mid Century Modern Molded Plywood & Chrome Dining Room Chairs
This is a pair of very unusual mid century modern design chairs. I cannot find a signature on the chairs however they are obviously well made and sturdy to stand up to years of usage. The chairs are constructed of layers of plywood polished to a high patina especially on the seats. The round seats measure 16” in diameter with molded depressed seat centers for comfort. The backs have a cut out design and are curved to fit the back more comfortably. Heavy curved chrome supports hold the seat and back together Heavy polished chrome legs. Measurements: floor to top of back 36” floor to seat 18” width of curved back at top edge 16 1/2” diameter of round cut seat 16” Condition: Good overall vintage condition very sturdy. No. 2102250 plus the Sterngold Model 501AB Micropencil Air Abrasive Unit Media Canister with 2 blasting pencils. The serial number on the Abrasive Unit is 27675. Everything here is in very good condition. Working fine, including the light for the work area, the cabinet plexiglas window, and the 2 blasting pencils and two rubber gloves and access holes for the gloves. The previous owner has made some modifications to the unit including adding a 1-3/4 inch threaded opening to the back top of the unit for exhausting remotely but then added a fitting to close the opening. Also the previous owner added some mounting studs inside the work area(see ... morein the picture) and finally the unit is mounted on a 3/4 inch thick plywood board with a lifting handle in front on the board(see in the pictures) The compressed air pressure regulator with filter and gauge is mounted on the right hand side of the cabinet with a 68 inch long rubber air inlet hose 1/4 inch OD 1/8 inch ID mounted on a tee at the regulator. The cabinet has a good dust collector bag in its removable base, and all fittings are working fine. Overall the cabinet is 17 inches wide by 19-3/4 inches in height by 23 inches in depth. There is a 36 inch long hose from the media canister to the blasting pencils. The media canister is 5 inches ID by 9 inches internal height, and the overall height of the media canister with fittings is 14 inches. There is a 90 inch long light AC cord with standard American 2-prong plug end for the light, and the switch for the light is a rocker type one in the cord. Everything here weighs 18 pounds net. This is a vintage Thaden-Jordan molded plywood dining set from the late 1940s to early 1950s in original. And very, very good condition. It has minor wear from light use but no major issues. I bought this set in 1995 from a mid-century modern dealer and have had it in my condo since then. It comes from a smoke-free, dust-free home. I seldom use it-mainly for entertaining friends at the holidays. It sits in a dining room which is seldom used. The table is 29" high, 58.25" long(including a removable leaf) and 32" wide. The chairs are 17" high, 17" wide, and 14" deep. Overall chair height is 32.50 inches. The set was manufactured in Roanoke VA and the mark from the manufacturer is on the bottom of the table. It is stamped onto the wood. The photo was not clear, but I guarantee the mark. I had the unit appraised ... morein 2002 and it was appraised as $2800 then. It was stated that it was an exceptional example of this set. This exact dining set was featured in a mid-century modern magazine called DECO ECHOS and I have the original article from this national magazine as well as the original bill of sale which I will pass on to the next owner. The article states: In 1946. The Thaden-Jordan Furniture Corporation was organized as a partnership between Herbert Von Thaden and Donald Lewis-Jordan. The Roanoke City Directory lists the corporation as a wholesaler of molded plywood furniture. The final directory listing was in 1952. There is an interesting background of how these two men joined together to form this company. The history of the two men and the company is in the article. I am listing at a current and fair price. Beau tiful mid-century modern bent ply chair in very good condition. I believe this to be a Thonet chair though it is unsigned. There are 3 chairs available but this auction is for only 1 chair. Chair measures 30 inches from top of back to floor. 18-1/2 inches wide and 18-1/2 inches deep. Very sturdy with no de-lamination. Breaks or repairs to wood. Metal tips on bottom of legs to protect wood. These were reupholstered in 2006. Some slight fading to fabric and a few very light spots. Gorgeous iconic chair similiar to the Eames DCW.
