This is a set of two 1960's caps. The large metal tin cap measures 2 3/4" in diameter excluding the tabs. T his is a drum bung seal for 32 and 55 gal drums. The large one is for the pump bung. **WAX SEAL!!** - "Painted RUSSIAN ICON; OIL on CANVAS & TREE BARK," early 1800's
I bought this Icon from someone who had gone to an estate sale a good while back. If you can see in the pictures. There is some writing on the tree and around the inner perimeter of the wax seal on the back. They said that it is a Russian icon, and to me it appears that the text is in the Russian language. Is it German, or Italian, or Russian- i'm not quite sure, but it is very impressive. CONDITION& DESCRIPTION: You can see in one of the photos that there is some paint chipped from off the left upper corner. The canvas is not torn in that spot. Just a small section of the paint has chipped away. Also, at that same corner, the corner of wood underneath the corner has broken off(that is probably when the paint chipped off. There is some small paint chipping around the very front outer perimeter. There are some very tiny nicks sort ... moreof around the feet of the Saint that is standing up(you might have to magnify the photo to even see them) Wax Seal: The image that is stamped in the center of the seal appears to be either a large church or a cathedral type of structure. There is 3 domes on top of the structure. With a CROSS on the top of each one. Around the inner perimeter edge of the seal has what appears to be Russian text, which goes completely around the circle. The is approximately 45-50 letters which are very hard to make out what they are. Some look like symbols rather than letters. Nails: The nails a funny shaped. None that i have ever seen. The shaft are more oblong than round, and the head of each seems different shaped than one another.

Which measures approximately 3 inches long by 2 1/4 inches tall and weighs approximately 79 grams. Is in very good condition- although used and in need of a good polishing. It comes with no monograms. Dents or repairs; however, it will need new inside batting and wick. The Lighter is hallmarked for the important silversmith John C. Vickery. Birmingham for the year 1923. I found this information about Mr. Vickery over the internet. This was the firm of John Collard Vickery, an important and successful player in the retail side of the gold and silversmithing business in the early 20th century. Collard and his then partner. Arthur Thomas Hobbs, bought up the long established business of William Griggs, a stationer and bookseller at 183, ... moreRegent Street in c.1890 and expanded the stock to include jewellery, dressing cases, gold and silver lines. Great Seal was a brand produced by The Styron Beggs Company out of Newark. Ohio in the late 1800s. This was found while cleaning and remodeling a house and has survived in very good condition. The only flaw is some staining on the label which probably comes with age. This is a great piece for any collection!
