Offered here. One lot of two decorated felt table mats from the WWI era or even a little earlier. The first is an embroidered floriform mat measuring 13" in diameter. The silk embroidery on this piece is exquisite and, as is the great virtue of silk, the colors remain vibrant to this day. The second is an oval measuring 15" x 11 1/2" with a printed design featuring a robin that exceeds the boundaries by a little, and a springtime array of flowers at the bottom. Vintage we believe hand embroidered probably rayon and silk mats made in The People's Republic of China and from a Northern California estate. Loads of gold threads on dark green with flowers and other designs.This listing is for a lot of all three. The designs are different. The backs the same green and the sizes pretty close but not exact. All still have the original stickers on the back. The shade of gold varies as we hope you can see in the first picture. Today I am selling a set of 14 coated placemats pictures that are from the photos of Charles M. Russell. I looked at a couple other sites that are selling new ones of these for $21 to $23 per place mat. Now that is for brand new one. These are NOT in mint condition. There are various light marks and a few scratches on some. One has a 1" area across the top edge that has been damaged. Not sure what from and some are a little wavy around the edges from storage over the years but nothing that I would consider major. They are still a very nice collectible art of his. I just want to make sure and mention all flaws that I see so you know they are not perfect. Still nice though. Just some general wear. The embroidery consists mainly of crewelwork and satin stitch. There are initials at the top and the number 53. Which I am certain relates to the date of 1853, judging by the style and theme. These were found with a number of very old linens during my recent trip to England. In very good condition with a few old stains ~ one of the edges has been oversewn. This set was said to be from the e arly 20th century. And from a U.S. home. This is needle lace. It is done by needle and thread. With the larger doilies there are approximately 3 different patterns(see photos provided) There are a few small tan oxidation spots to the linen doily centers on the coaster goblets. These are small and quite minor. The 26” table cover centerpiece round has slight age discoloration. The set is in“as found” condition in that it has not been washed.
