Offered- A good quality Art-Deco era Crocodile Desk Top Accessory c 1920/1930. The exterior consists of a Ink Well, a Stamp Box. Loops for 3 Pens/Pencils and a Top Fold which opens to the interior. The interior of the piece has a surface for writing- with pig-skin folders to the left for paper and envelopes. The piece measures 12 inches by 7 1/2 inches. The ink well appears to be brushed steel with a push-style opener which is located under the leather at the front of the well. The stamp box is divided into 2 sections all of which are lined in pig skin. The Pen/Pencil loops are stable and intact. The bottom of the piece is covered in an old-style brown paper- not in the best of condition- but easily re-covered. I have inserted a piece of marbled paper where the blotter is. Antique 1800's counter top slant desk for a country store. Etc. I believe that it's all original with the original outside finish and interior light green paint. The wood is walnut, popular back in the old days. The early desk hardware is pictured in photos# 3 and# 8. Photo#9 shows the pencil or pen holder that extents the whole inside front. In photo#4 the hole for an early ink well can be seen. It measures about 26 inches wide, about 20 1\4 inches deep and about 8 1\2 inches high in back and about 6 1\2 inches high in front. The slant front with aging has a couple of cracks from the wood drying over the many years. Small antique lap or table top desk ND682
Small table top or lap desk made in the 19th century/1800's. Purchased at a NH estate sale. The dark coloring of the pine and the fine dovetailing of the joints indicate that it was most likely made in the 1800's. The nails which hold the base to the top are hand cut and the hinges are brass. The double hinged lift top is unique. The inside is clean. The base is square, measuring 14 1/2" x1 4 1/2" It is 7" deep at the back and 3 1/2" deep at the front. The locking mechanism has long been missing but there is no damage around the keyhole. Late 1800's. 54"wide, 30" deep, 48"High. High grade. Highly figured quarter sawed oak. The desk has two large filing drawers on base of each bank. 4 drawers. 2 pull out lap boards, 2 brass inserts on each side, for sliding small paper work in, 14 pull out bins,in the upper pigeon hole area, 2 small side drawers for paper clips.Comes apart into 2 banks of drawers, top of desk. Here is the best SOLID OAK antique American roll top desk I have seen in many years. It was recently purchased from a local estate of a woman who had been in the antique business since the 1960's. I remember visiting her shop which was super interesting with lots of nooks and crannies filled with beautiful and out of the ordinary mostly American antiques. This desk was purchased in 1969 by a man who ended up as her husband and it remained in their family until now. Apparently. As the story goes, he was a student then and could not afford to buy the desk so he worked it off by doing odd jobs and helping around the shop. Everything is original from the finish to the locking system for the drawers and lock set and sliding locking mechanism for the top to the castors to the drawer slides to the fabric on the tambour door to the hardware and ... moredrawer pulls. There are four drawers with the shell carved handles on one side and three drawers and four handles on the other side as the bottom drawer is the double door. There is also a"secret" drawer under the side with the four drawers. If interested in a photo of this. Then just let me know. Looks as if it was added after.but a hiding place. It has all of the striking features of a top of the line roll top desk or curtain desks as they were called back in the day. This desk is top quality solid quartersawn oak with beautiful woodgrain patterns and patina and may possibly be a Stickley Brandt based on photos of their desks which were being produced in the late 1800's from the book"Furniture Made in America by E& R Dubrow" It is very similar to their top of the line model with the shell carved handles and quartersawn oak paneled sides and rear. The fitted interior is fabulous with lots of drawers with the original small wooden knobs. A few of knobs are are chipped but all drawers and pulls are present and original which is very difficult to find! This amazing French Louis XV Writing Table Desk was an estate find. It looks to be wood veneer with an intricate black leather inlay with gold guilt edging. The desk is lined with heavy brass embellishments along the edges and has ormolu mounts. The front has 3 locking drawers with the keys for each one and they work fine. The desk has faux drawers on the side and backside. So that it can be a centerpiece in the room. Golden Oak Antique C-Roll-top Desk with One 4-Drawer Bank and FREE Desk Chair
This is a good looking golden oak desk with one four drawer bank of drawers on the right. It measures 36" wide. 43" high, and 28" from front to back. It is mostly solid oak accept the upper sides are veneered. In the picture the rich golden oak stain and grain is evident. There are three slits on the side-left where the veneer has buckled, and a mark on the intact upper right side of the desk that has a slight black discoloration. There are a few chips on the inside right of the roll-top side that has occurred, otherwise the desk is clean and rich in style. There are two interior 9.5" drawers at the upper desk with numerous open compartments. The four larger drawers measure 10" wide by 20" deep. The original key is included that works for the roll-top only. The lock may not be aligned properly and I haven't ... morelocked the desk for a while. Antique Slant Top Teacher's Desk
Authentic slant top teacher's desk. Made from clear pine. Has a single wide drawer and cubby holes inside the slant top compartment. Dimensions: 31" wide. 21" deep, 34" tall This desk is typical of those used by teachers in one-room school houses in the 19th century. The outside of the desk has been refinished but the inside is in its original condition. The internal lock mechanism is missing. But the outside lock plate is still there. One hinge is also a little loose. As you would expect of a piece used in a schoolhouse, it has a few scuffs. However, these are part of the charm of the piece.
