I am not sure which lathe this was from, it was removed from storage just as it is shown in the pictures. To help determine if this steady rest will fit your lathe following are some basic dimensions. From the center of the bore straight down to the flat way measures 8-7/8" From the center of the Vee Way to the inside of the Flat Way measures 4-1/2" And center of the Vee to the outside of the flat measures 6-5/8" The opening bore in the casting measures 6-3/4" so I expect the maximum work diameter that this steady rest will accommodate is about 6" Please note that these measurements were taken with a tape measure, so they are close but probably not exact. I've had this for a while. But don't know what lathe it goes to. I have not been able to find any markings or numbers, but the casting and style looks to be VERY old. The distance from the middle of the notch on the bottom to the center of the other flat part where the rest sits on the lathe bed is approx. 4" The total width of the bottom is approx. 4 5/8" The height looks to be correct for a lathe with a 9" swing If you happen to know what this fits. NO RESERVE This"item" is a steady rest for a South Bend lathe which measures 14.5" from base to the center of the fingers. Some have suggested to me that it will fit a 15" and 16" lathe. So I have included that in the title. Description: This steady rest is in quite good condition. I stripped it of paint to check for any cracks or brazing repairs. All threads have been chased with a tap. Or die, as appropriate. From the base to the center of the closed fingers is 7.25 inches. The base is notched as a SB piece should be. The base is 7" wide. Swartchild Watch makers / Clock makers lathe with steady rest and motor
Here is a table mount lathe for the watch or clock maker who needs precision cutting and turning. The lathe is labeled Swartchild Germany 711. There is an 8mm drawbar and a 4 groove pulley for various speeds. The largest groove has two spots where the flange is broken. Not bad enough for the belt to slip off, but the flange is not perfect. The second groove has a small spot where the top edge of the flange is flattened. The two smaller grooves are fine. There is a steady rest that is attached to the base and that comes along. The motor is complete and works. It has a 3 groove pulley attached. The motor has a cord but no plug. I am sure this had a foot pedal to regulate the speed but that DOES NOT come along with the lathe. The motor works when plugged in but has not been load tested. The motor is stamped, Dumore Type N FR 115 volts" ... moreand the other specifics are tough to read. At the bottom of the tag it says"Wisconsin Electric Company Rwacine, Wisconsin, U.S.A. 3" Capacity Lathe Steady Rest, Center Rest, DAYTON, ATLAS, SOUTH BEND
This is from the workshop of a local estate. This is a steady rest that was used by the previous owner on a DAYTON metal lathe. But it will probably fit an Atlas or South Bend, as well. It will accept 3 inch stock, and measures 5 inches from the center to the lathe ways. There is no maker's mark. The only mark I find on it is-125 on the base. You may want to clean it up a little, but it works perfectly fine as is. Please look at the photos and ask any questions you may have. This will ship in the large USPS Flat Rate Box, which is the cheapest way to go.

Clausing 1300 1500? Lathe Steady Rest parts South Bend Logan
Lathe Steady Rest parts I believe from a Clausing lathe but should also fit many others. These definitely fit the clausing 1300 and probably fit the 1500 as well as others with a 1" diameter. They are 1" in Diameter and about 5.5" long with a slot running up the side and around the top adjustment area. Being sold in real good working condition(I don't think these were ever used) with normal scratches etc from being in a metal shop. Sold as is as pictured.
