Two Small Vintage Mechanic Machinist Hobby Vises Two Small Vintage Vises Machinist- Hobbyist This auction is for 2 Small Vintage Vices. They measure 5" by 4" and have 1 3/4" jaws. These are solidly made vises. They have 2 steel guide bars which makes for a nice precision fit on the jaws. The red one on the left in the picture below closes smoothly but binds up a little when opening. The orange one on the right opens and closes nice. They are both in very good working condition. The bottom handle on the orange one has a slight bend. There are no markings on the red one and the orange one has some numbers as shown. There is a small casting flaw on top of the jaw on the red vise as shown. These would be a nice set of vises for the hobbyist or for the collector. See additional pictures below. Toolmaker Or Machinist 7 1/4" Hardened Grinder Vise
You are bidding on a Toolmaker or Machinist 7 1/4" Hardened Grinder Vise. YES. It is Hardened and made in a Northwestern. Pa. Tool and Die Shop, by an experienced toolmaker. It is slightly used having been stored the last few years. It opens fully to 3 7/8" as shown in picture 2 and 3(scale and quarters do not go with it) The rest of the opening in the vise is 1 5/16" high. And 2 3/8" wide. It has a couple small grinding marks when stone touched vise when grinding in very close quarters. The first is on the end of the fixed portion of the vise which is.010 deep by 1/4" long by 3/8" wide. The other grind mark is right below that on on the holding portion of the vise and is only about.004 or.005 deep and about 1/8 by 3/16 long. Other than the 2 marks. It is in excellent condition. The vise has a tapped hole on ... moreeach side of the fixed portion of the vise for help in some holding applications and also a 7/16" wide slot 3/16" deep on each side the whole length of the vise for some hold down applications. For auction 1 Moore precision machinists vise.Total height is 3" base measures 7"x10-1/2" Jaws are 5-1/2" wide x 6" when fully open. Vise weighs 25lbs. Vise opens and closes easily and smoothly. Thier is a work stop for part repeatability. Jaw faces are very clean see pictures. Bottom jaw surface where it closes has some dings this looks like normal wear for its age. Jaw guide cylinders have a mill mark or two not bad see pictures. The Moore tag has number 802 stamped on it. Im not sure this could be a model number. This vise has had light surface rust cleaned off. Thier seemed to be some heavier rusting on the bottom that has been cleaned see pictures. Moore Jig Borer Bay State Tool Precision Machinist Vise 4" Jaws Low Profile
This auction is for a precision vise with a low profile. Made by Bay State Tool. This vise can be used for grinding, milling, or plenty of other tasks. Based off other auctions for very similar vises though, I believe that this may have been manufactured to go with a Moore Jig Borer, however, I don't guarantee this, nor do I know which model it would be paired with Measurements are as follows: Base: 8"x10.5" Jaws: 4" Wide Height: 3" These are all approximate) While there was definitely some rust cleaned recently you can see in the pictures that the vise still opens and closes fully. The action is slightly loose though. And each side of the moving jaw doesn't always close at the same rate, making the jaw slightly askew/diagonal. Since I spent about 2 hours cleaning rust though, I don't have to time to try and ... morefix this, or even know if one can fix this issue. However, the jaw can be made straight again/parallel with the stationary jaw but simple pushing it straight. I can't imagine this will be an issue except for very high precision work. While this vise was well built because of this problem it's being sold AS IS; no returns will be granted. NOTE: THE VISE YOU WILL RECEIVE IS NOT THE VISE IN THE PICTURE. I HAVE TWO ALMOST IDENTICAL VISES AND THE FIRST HAS SOLD. THIS AUCTION IS FOR THE SECOND. There are original 1/8" thick plates screwed to each jaw that I assume if removed would give you an additional 1/4" opening. besides the expected dings the vise is in good condition. It is furnished with a take-up block that slips on the end of the screw. The block is held to allow a slight swivel action that conforms the angle of the block to the shape of the work being held. Vintage Large Bench Rotating Machinist Pipe Vise
Nice large very heavy(56 lbs) machinists/pipe fitters bench vise. Swivel base and rotating head. Some light surface rust and paint splatter but overall good working condition. Jaws in good shape. Jaws are 5' and open to 4" Vise is 18" long when fully open, 10 1/2" tall and swivel base is about 8" diameter. In good condition. A machinist/toolmaker precision milling vise. There is much rust and some scratches but lots of life left. No cracks or repairs and the jaws move freely.
