Vintage Steady Rest from 9" South Bend Lathe, Original South Bend-Needs Paint
A friend of mine has a machine shop at his home. Which includes the tools and machines that generally comprise a home machine shop. Although there are an assortment of brand names, he was partial to South Bend Lathes and accessories. He has now decided to reduce the size of his shop and to sell off the extra parts and accessories he has collected over the years and no longer uses. As the pieces are inventoried and released for disposition I will list them and describe them as accurately as I am able. Sale is final so please ask any questions that you might have. I have a number of very clean, ready to go components.as follows: The 4 Jaw Chuck is made by"Power Companion Tools- USA" that mounts on a 1" x 8 TPI spindle. All jaws operate smoothly and it comes with the original key. There are a few marks on the jaws. But nothing that will affect its use(see close-up photo#7) The Steady Rest is marked"M6-326" All parts have been removed and inspected. It is missing some of the original blue paint and the bottom rail mount is a nice replacement. There are 6 change gears: 64. 54, 46, 36 and two(2) 32. There is a small casting defect(hole) in the#54 gear, which ... moredoes not affect a thing(see photo#9) Along with the Lantern tool post holder.you will get three(3) turning tool holders. Two"pretty close to new" Craftsman Turning-Tool Holders are#2035(left hand) and a#2034(right hand) Then there is a little baby Armstrong(Chicago USA) Ace No. 1010-S Straight Holder. In the photos.
