Machinist Lot Planer Gage Sine Bar And 1-2-3 Blocks
Nice lot of machinist tools. All are machinist made. The sine bar is 5" center to center 6" in overall length and a half inch wide. The planer gage is very nicely made I can't find a manufacturers mark so I assume it's machinist made. It's ground all over and functions smoothly. The 1-2-3" blocks are a set. Not sure I would use these for any precise set up until they were ground together. One block was hit with a cutter as seen in pics. The blocks are hardened. For sale is a very nice sine bar jig from the estate of a retired friend who served as supervisor of the tool room for a Ford Motor Company plant in Michigan. It was probably made by him when he was training as a journeyman early in his career. The primary dimensions are: 3" wide. 6-1/2" long when closed, 6-3/4" high when opened, and 1-3/4" thick when closed. The distance between the center of the rolls is 5" It has numerous 1/4' tapped holes on the upper plate to facilitate clamping. No rust is apparent on any metal surface; there is slight discoloration of the metal in a few places, primarily on the bottom surface of the lower plate. It is very well made and in excellent condition. Please refer to the attached photos for confirmation of design and condition. Please forward any questions for a prompt reply.

This sine bar was used for manufacture and inspection at Taft Peirce by the toolmakers in the grinding department. Made of all hardened and ground Tool Steel The item is not labeled Taft Peirce but I know for certain it is genuine. Includes wooden case. Very similar to Sine Block Taper Testing Fixture pictured in the 1943 Taft Peirce Handbook of Machine Tool Equipment, page 97.
