This is a vintage(early 1940s) Taft-Pierce Manufacturing(Woonsocket. RI) No. 9116 precision(10,000) 10” sine bar. It is in its original leather-bound. Felt-lined case. It is etched with the Defense Plant Corporation identification number. But is otherwise in SUPER condition. The front of the case has the Defense Plant Corporation metal identification tag. The Defense Plant Corporation was created in 1940. And whose charter was to assist American industry in tooling-up in preparation for the coming war. Vintage sine bar from 1940's. On the top is the name of the toolmaker and a date which looks like 1945. It has a wooden case also. It measures 5 3/4" long and 5/8" wide. It has a little rust as you can see in one of the pictures. This sine bar is not complete as you can see in the pictures. This is a Taft- Peirce Sine Block Taper Testing Fixture. Bought it at an auction and have no use for it. It is in good condition with minimum light surface rust in some areas. I used scotch bright and WD40 and the areas clean up as new.Looked it up on the internet and I see they are pretty expensive in a new condition, not sure if the use them as much nowadays with all the computerized measuring equipment. One of the round"feet" has a small flat ground just off center. The tool does still sit on the round area. I am not sure why it is there. Up for Auction is a Taft Pierce 11.5" Sine Bar- Precision Angle Setting with Fitted Case. This is a used piece. The box has been cleaned but still is not grease free, also the box has some box material chips on the end of the box. The piece itself has some tarnish marks on the front and back, I have taken pictures of the marks. I am not familiar with the piece, but I gather the knobs are suppose to turn, I tried to turn by hand and couldn't do. Vintage 10" Sine Bar 1-1/4" Wide
I don't know anything about this other than it is a machinist tool and I am selling for a friend of a friend. Please see photos as they are the best description I can give of this. It reads 10 inches by 1 1/4 inches wide on the side and comes in a wooden case. It appears to be intact and solid. To me this thing looks like a really cool piece of modern art. There is some writing on the wooden case with a sharpie indicating that it is in fact a"Sine Bar" There is also a label that has information about calibration that is difficult to read. I will do my best with any questions but the best description I can offer on this one is the photographs. Thanks for looking
