This was bought at an estate sale. The person had a Atlas model 3950 6" metal turning lathe so I believe this was used on it. Comes with a nice chuck key. ATLAS / CRAFTSMAN 6" METAL LATHE TIMKEN HEADSTOCK 1" X 10 TPI FOR REBUILD OR PAR
YOU ARE BIDDING ON A ATLAS/ CRAFTSMAN 6" 618 101 LATHE HEADSTOCK ASSEMBLY WITH TIMKEN BEARINGS IN REBUILD CONDITION OR USE IT FOR PARTS. The headstock has been cracked and welded back together but everything seems to work fine. The Pulley and gear are in good shape but the bushings need replaced there is a lot of play on the spindle. The back gear has good teeth but missing pin and someone tried to run with the index pin engaged. The spindle and bearings are in good shape except for over tightening of the setscrew/ oil plug on the pulley left a grove. The end gear has one chipped tooth but shouldn’t affect it. The back Gear assembly seems to be ok but missing a washer. Handle and ball and spring. The following list of parts would be needed to rebuild it. The quick change bundle was apart when I received it. So I put this group together based on the fact they all were found in the same box with gears. The shafts are all 8 3/4 long with the exception of oiler which is shaft length of 5 1/2"not counting nipple) X 5/8" OD. There are two shafts at 1/2" OD and two at 5/8" OD. There ... moreare two sets of collars and none of them have set screws. All shafts seem to be straight. Everything looks like it is in good used condition with the exception of some minor burring. Craftsman 101 machinist metal lathe good working condition + countershaft extras
I have for auction this vintage Craftsman metal working machinist lathe. It comes with everything seen in the photos. Plus there are 18 changing gears a 6' face plate 2 lathe dogs a 4 jaw chuck(no mount plate) and a tail stock drill chuck. The lathe is in good running condition. the motor is craftsman 1/2 horsepower capacitor motor 3450 rpms. The overall length of the lathe from end to end is 33' long. It is 3' to the center of the chuck from the ways of the bed. I believe this would be a 6' swing. The gears that are on the lathe now. Show some wear but no missing teeth. the auto feed works forwards and backwards. the compound slide is in good condition. There is one or two replacement handles on the compound slide. see pictures) The tightening handle for the tail stock is missing in action. There is a nut in its' place. ... moresee pictures) The counter shaft is in good working condition. The green paint is not original, this is how I found it. The lathe is almost just as I found it. The only alteration on my part is I wiped the grime and grease off of the machine. The bed ways are pretty clean. The previous owner took decent care of this. It is a good user lathe. It will require some additional cleaning and oiling, and what ever else the new owner see fit to do. They are Dusty and Dirty from sitting for Years on a Shelf above the Lathe. This was Picked up at an Retired Machinist Estate Sale. UP FOR AUCTION IS THIS COOL LITTLE SEARS CRAFTSMAN 109.0703 METAL LATHE WITH MOTOR MOUNT AND MOTOR. THIS UNIT APPEARS TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. IT LOOKS LIKE IT MAY HAVE SOME WHITE PAINT OVERSPRAY ON IT. EVERYTHING TURNS SMOOTHLY ON LATHE, GEARS HAVE 3 DIFFERENT SETTINGS ON THEM. COMES WITH ALL THAT IS SHOWN IN PHOTOS. THE CHUCK RESTING ON LATHE BED SAYS JACOBS CHUCK, THE MOTOR IS ON A NICE MOUNT. WHEN I FIRST PLUG IN MOTOR AND TRIED IT AND IT DID NOT WORK, I MOVED AROUND THE WIRES AT SWITCH AND IT STARTED WORKING, I TURNED IT ON AND OFF 3 OR 4 TIMES AND EACH TIME IT WORKED.
