Vintage Fly Fishing Rod/Fenwick FF85 8-1/2' 3 3/4 OZ w/tube Super condition
Offering a super Fenwick Feralite. Model FF85, 8-1/2 ft, 2 pc, 3-3/4 oz. fiberglass fly rod with the original aluminum carrying case. The cloth case is gone. The rod is in exceptional shape. The eyes have no damage and the wrapping is in great shape. The cork handle has never had a hook in it and is damage free. The feral attaches well and holds nicely. The action is live. The line rating tag is still on the rod but I couldn't upload enough pictures to show everything. My guess is made in very late 50's or early 60's. Defininely before mid 1963 as that was the year the 5 digit zip code came out and Fenwick's address doesn't have that.only Long Beach 4, California. Considering that, this rod is at least 50 years old but looks like it was manufactured last week except the line rating tag is slightly loose and needs regluing ... moreon the top edge. That's not bad for a 50 year old rod. There is a dent or two in the aluminum case as can be seen in picture 11. The serviceability is in no way impaired. Feralite had not yet been patented when this rod was made as it says patent pending behind the word Feralite. Serial number is C 16723. Exceptional piece but I am downsizing and can't tramp the streams as I once did so here's a nice opportunity to own agreat rod. Low start. Phillipson Paragon fly rod 8 1/2' - 5 bamboo 3 section very nice original cond.
Today I purchased this Phillipson Paragon fly rod at an estate sale. I don't know really anything about it other than I have read that they fish very well. And I know they were made in the fifties. This is a 3 section 8 1/2' 5 HDH. It also has what looks like a small b with an 8 in front of the length designation. It is in very good overall condition for the age, and does not appear to have any real damage or problems other than very minor scuffs and scratches. It was obviously owned by someone who liked to use it, and it has been well used, but probably has a lot of life left in it. The ferrules seem tight, all the guides are still tightly wrapped, and I do not see any cracks or repairs. THEY ARE FINALLY HERE. A LONG TIME IN THEIR COMING. GREAT REELS Manufactured exclusively for A.R.E. This is the Largest Size of the Vom Hoffe Reels These reels have a modified internal design. As a Result of modern day materials and a superior manufacturing process. They will Out-perform the originals in every respect. The Hardened Brass machined frames are highly polished.and then Plated. The thickness of the Frames has been increased by 1 MIL.They are then Double Chrome Plated to a hard high gloss finish. The spools are aluminum, and are Polished and chrome plated as well. There are no sharp or un-finished edges. The black Matte Finish side plates are made of a space age nylon material. The Handle is of the New" S" Shaped Design. It Adds a Bit of Elegance to the reel. The handle Knob is a polished Exotic Hardwood.The click/pawl ... moredrag is smooth and firm. It is not overly hard. The reel can be wound with either hand effectively. The oil cap has decorative knurling that allows a good grip. It serves a dual purpose. Besides being an oil cap cover for lubrication, it has a nylon cup behind it that covers the end of the axle. The cup can be tightened down to gain additional drag on the spool. It is very effective. The rims will not dent easily and The side plates will not crack or chip.The reel foot does not have to be altered to fit most modern day reel seats, but there may be times when a slight modification/alteration may be necessary to fit the reel seat. This auction is for 3 vintage Pflueger fishing Lure Spoons. The 2 Yahuddis are still in the original tube they came in. The Pflueger Chum SZ 4 is in Excellent condition with mild discoloring but overall maintains a vibrant color and gloss. Please look at the pictures as they are a great and only real indication of item condition. I try to get all shots and angles as to truly show the items patina and condition.
