NICE ANTIQUE SURGICAL / MEDICAL TWEEZERS AND SHARP SCALPEL SCRAPING TOOL
Here we have two nice surgical instruments for your collection! The first one is some kind of curved sharp blade cutting or scraping instrument. It is probably nickle plated but definitely not stainless as there is a small rust spot on the blade. The other instrument is a unique 90 degree angle. Square tip, slide locking pair of tweezers. The locking bar on these goes to almost the tip and fits into a slot on the other tip. They have been well used as well and have very little finish left but still work great! Here we have a great older.and authentic.surgeons Scalpel with a EBONY handle and was made by and is marked F.G. HAAG 115 Canal St.This was an 1800s New York City maker of Straight Razors and Surgical Tools. I have been told that they made surgeons tools used in the Union Army surgical sets. This example measures about 6 1/4 inch overall with 2 1/8 inch of that being the blade.Handle is genuine EBONY. I woulc rate this scalpel as being in GOOD-VERY GOOD condition, handle is good with no damage other then a small crack coming from the front rivit on the right side. Blade has been sharpend some but not excesive. NICE 1800s SURGICAL / MEDICAL SCALPEL AND PROBE "MARKED"!
Here we have a very nice and hard to find. Small medical/ surgical probe for a pocket kit. It is used condition showing some staining on the handle part but the probe ends are perfect. It is maker marked"Hardy" which is a maker I am not familiar with. The other instrument is an ebony handle scalpel that has been shortened ether due to breakage of the wood or to fit in a smaller kit. There are no cracks or damage to whats left of the handle. There is an R and G in boxes marked on one side of the blade and what looks to be Hyledmann Germany on the other side. These would be great additions to your pocket kit or collection! Here we have a nice Indian Wars period to the turn of the century set of marked scalpels and another odd curved scalpel that is unmarked. All these instruments are in nice shape for their age and would be great replacements in any amputation kit. I have seen these these sell individually for 10 bucks or more a piece but when I get in a set that matches I kinda like to keep them that way. It's in overall great shape. And comes with 12 B-P carbon-steel rib-back blades, unused and still sealed. in their packages. Extremely sharp, good for crafts, etc, where precise cutting is necessary. Up for auction is an antique Scalpel/ Bleeder. The handle shows great patina color. There are some nicks and dings in the base of the handle. The handle has a smooth cool finish and feels dense. The blade is solid in it's fixture. This was obviously used and is in great shape considering it's from the 1800's. Please see measurements for size GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC This is set of 4 small Civil War Era Folding Surgical Tools with Tortoise Shell Handles with Leather case as found at an estate. The'bleeder' is marked"Gemrig" and the others are marked" Luer" on two the mark is clear but on the the club shaped lancet? all I can see is the letter L. Yet the blade edge is still quite sharp) SIZE: When closed. Two measure approx. 3-3/4" one is 3" and the bleeder is about 2" The case is approx. 4-3/4" x 2-1/4" CONDITION: Good condition with wear consistent with age. The blades on the two longer tools are sharp and in surprisingly good condition. The tool with the two straight knife blades has a lot of wear/nicks to edge of blades and the tip of the bleeder is worn. The ... morehandles have some little chips on the edge(I tried to show some of the worst in photos) but no cracks. Tooled leather case has quite a bit of wear and one side has come unattached but all the loops for holding the tools are still attached and work well. As you can see. There are empty slots so the set isn't complete. Interesting Note: Gemrig was a surgical instrument maker in Philadelphia from 1840-1881. They were a major supplier of surgical instruments to the Union Army during the Civil War.
