Interesting design with a white marble base and attached instrument tray. This piece is completely restored. When I found this lamp it was in terrible condition. The last picture is of the lamp as found. I cleaned the base and the tray. Replaced the porcelain socket with an antique equivalent, replaced the arm, rewired the lamp with period style black twisted modern reproduction lamp cord and added the nice edison style filament bulb which will be included. The base. Tray, socket housing and plug are original. The arm. Cord and bulb are all that's new on this unusual piece. Oh. And I added some rubber feet to protect your desk from the marble. Antique Gold Plated Medical Instrument Ebony Handle Bleeder?
This is an antique gold plated medical instrument. It is 6 1/4" long. It has an ebony handle. There are no makers marks. The screw on the top on the handle has the number"206" The screw lock sliders, are marked"1" and"2" The tip cover piece was made with 3 splits. 2 of tips have gone missing, see photo. When the tip cover piece is removed, it exposes a small sharp spear shaped needle. When the numbered screws are loosened, they do not slide, stuck. The only visible damage to the instrument. Is to the tip, which also has missing plating. The balance of the plating is good, there is a small none separated crack in the handle. I do not know for sure what the instrument was used for, but the spear tip is sharp enough to easily pierce the skin, if used for bleeding. c. 1890-1910 Schimmelbusch Mask. Made by Down Bros. London The cross wires were pulled outward from the frame. A wire hinged to the top of the mask behind the frame was then released by a clip. A piece of gauze was placed between the two'arms'of the mask which was then closed to clip the cloth into tent shape. The extending handle was used by the anaesthetist to hold the mask over the mouth and nose of the patient. Chloroform was then dripped onto the gauze administering the anaesthesia to the patient. Dosage for chloroform was measured by administering one drip per second. Its condition is excellent.

Antique medical 1800s doctors surgical urethral instruments in leather bound leather lined cas with nickel silver slide locks. Case is signed maker J.J. McGonigle Baltimore MD. Each instrument is marked and numbered and has a wonderful original nickel silver finish with age. Showing old medical history. All in very good condition. No cracks or damage 99% nickel finish. Case shows a little wear on edges. Some old pitting to leather inside edge. Has good hinges and working locks. Makers label is intact 99.9% with gold lettering. A antique medical medicine spoon doctors nursing instrument. Wonderful old silver plate spoon signed HOLMES BOOTH& HAYDENS A1 PAT 1885. Spoon is graduated to measure Tea. Dessert, and Table amounts. The dose of medicine would be placed in the spoon which could then be sucked through the small opening by the patient. Offered is a set of two True Vintage Alcohol Burner Needle& Instrument Sterilization Medical Devices. Each burner canister measures approx. 6 7/8” long(left to right) By 3” in diameter. They are approx. 8 ¾” long including the handles. They are in good vintage condition with no holes or splits in the canisters. The canisters are metal. Possibly tin. There are some scuffs and signs of age and wear. As well as some minor surface rust here and there, consistent with that of 75 to 100+ year old antique medical metal ware. Please use the photo zoom for the best view of these rare burners. There are three ports with wicks atop each canister. There is an alcohol fill hole as well that is plugged with a cork. It appears that there may have been six wick caps or snuffers at one time. There are now four. Antique Patterson Fluoroscopic Screen RARE 1920's Medical X-Ray Instrument
A fluoroscope allows physicians and surgeons to look inside the body without developing an X-ray. The felt rim was worn over the physician’s eyes. Secured with elastic and textile around the head so the square screen was focused on the patient’s body. Here the physician could‘see’ inside the body. Portable fluoroscopes are still used today but are smaller and do not require users to wear the device. This antique medical device is from the 1920's when x-rays were new. Wooden box with handle protected by lead guard. Patterson type B fluoroscopic screen#L16871. Screen measures 8 1/2" X 6 1/2" Box is 7" deep. Very RARE. A antique medical 1800s hemorrhoid forceps clamping amputation instrument with ox bone ivory guards on one side of the blades. The blades interlock as they come together forcing the metal. Crushig of the tissue. A spring on the back forces the blades open and a adjustible stop keeps them in locked position. Instrument has a wonderful nickel silver finish with some old flaking and spotting. Tool shows lots of medical history. Instrument is in very good condition. All parts work. Antique Quack Medical Induction Coil Shock Electropathic Instrument
Up for bids today is what I believe to be an antique Quack Medical Induction Coil device. Perhaps used for"electropathic shock" therapy in the 1930's or prior. There are no identifying marks on this item, but the base is made of wood and the top plate that everything is mounted on is perhaps bakelite, but I am not sure. The dimensions of the piece are 9.75" x 11" and about 3" tall at the highest point. As you can see in the photos, there is some wear, and a small tear in the material that is wrapped around the coil. The induction coil, from what I've read, is for the purposes of applying high voltage, low current to the body. The adjustable rod(second to the last photo) varies the intensity of the shock. Vintage 1940's RAY & RADIATION Instrument, Rare QUACK MEDICAL DEVICE, It WORKS !
Up for auction is a very unusual piece of medical quackery in the form of an ultra violet ray and radiation machine- say what! This device was produced by Lawndale Laboratories in either Lawndale or Los Angeles. Calif during the 1930s or 1940s. These two different cities are listed on two separate labels on the unit. According to the instruction label located inside the lid- the machine was intended to be placed on the floor with one side raised by leaning on the box lid to form a foot rest. Place the bare feet across the tube or machine may be placed in the lap and both hands can lay across the tube. Internet research that I've done on this strange medical quackery device indicates it was touted as a cure for arthritis. Acne, asthma, bronchitis, hay fever, gout, dropsy, constipation, indigestion, jaundice, cold hands and feet, etc, etc ... moreas the list goes on and on and on. Just google"R& R ultra violet ray and radiation machine" and you'll get tons of hits on the unit and it's miracle claims. For your consideration is a very rare 1800's antique Ophthalmoscope with an Ox or Ivory bone handle made by H. W. Hunter Co. New York. This cased medical optical instrument belonged to C. Huber Optician of 26 N. Thirteenth St. Phila. PA. in original case. The case itself is a leather lined wooden case with a working latch. The scope is made of brass and now has a deep patina. Antique Asch's Boxed Medical ENT Instrument Set Rhinology Septum Forceps
For your consideration is an antique Asch's ENT set. This beautiful cased set by Dr. Asch would date to between 1830 and 1880. There are a total of 10 pieces including the box; a pair of angled septum straightening forceps marked with the number 24 patented. A pair of straight septum cutters marked with the number 7, a pair of angular septum cutters marked with the number 8, a small hand-held surgical knife with blade attachment but no blades, and 5 nasal drainage tube splints. The case has a rough exterior that is marked on the top Asch's Set of Instr. Measures 9.25" long by 6.5" wide by 1.5" tall. The interior is in very nice shape as are the instruments.
