This is a wonderful. Working vintage scale. It's 21" tall, about 18" deep, and about 17" wide. The weight tray is 15" x 10.5" The tray is somewhat scratched from regular use. The top of the scale has some of the enamel(I think it's enamel) eaten away as seen in the second-to-last-photo. The rest of the enamel looks great other than minor scratches and dings. The butcher side of the scale has one cent and two cent graduations. The back of the scale says"THANK YOU" and"CALL AGAIN" These. The weight amount in the back, and the front where the graduations are all light up. The scale works independently of being plugged in-as far as I can tell, the plug only makes the light come on. The light also comes out the top a little where the scale sides come together as seen in photo. The cord is wrapped ... morein black electrical tape where it comes out from under the scale. Lg. Vintage VILLAGE BLACKSMITH Chef'/Butcher's Meat Cleaver Knife/Hunter's Ax
This very handy. Carbon steel cleaver was made in Watertown, Wisconsin by Village Blacksmith, once one of the world's foremost names in professional cutlery for chefs and the meat trade, and comes in a very handy larger size that is modest enough still so that any chef can handle it easily. It has been used and does have some hairlines on its handle, as you can see in the photos, but the piece is solid and will still provide another lifetime or two of outstanding service if you've a mind to use it. Handles were made of solid, premium grade walnut, triple-riveted onto a full tang. Its sharp blade is 7-7/8" long(13-3/8" overall) 4.5" wide at its widest. It is stamped with its makers marks near the center-top of the blade but we couldn't get a good photo; they're only partially visible but clear enough to leave ... moreno doubt who made it. This cleaver has some true heft to it and will make quick work of any game or meats that it may encounter, but it's still manageable for use oriental-style, as a chopping knife for herbs or veggies. Hunters may want to grab this because it is invaluable in the field. I've used extensively a cleaver very much like this for clearing brush and branches while hunting-quartering game, beheading fish-you name it, I've used it for that. Whether you're someone who butchers their own livestock or game, a chef in need of some heft in his/her arsenal, or simply something to throw at a target in your back yard, this is an excellent find, offered here at an excellent price. These buttons are from the 1970s and are in good condition. The union pin measures nearly 1" across. Some of the black paint is scraped off at the bottom of the zero of 590. Local 590 included the states of(I believe) Pennsylvania. West Virginia and Maryland. Kroger employees were in this union at that time. Also. Here is a Cost Cutters button from Kroger. It was worn on the shirt a lot(by me when I worked there! and has some light scratches and a small dent from the back just to the right of the scissor handle. Above the"s" in COST. HUGE Antique Foster Bros. #13 Butcher's Slaughterhouse Meat Cleaver/Hog Splitter
This enormous antique slaughterhouse cleaver is as fine as any that was ever made proving once and for all that when American makers put their minds to it they made knives and other bladed items as well as anyone. It's a two-handed piece. Made in upstate New York by the Foster Brothers company, once America's finest maker of knives, cleavers and other tools for the meat processing industry. It dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's and will, if properly cared for, last another couple of hundred years to scare your family for generations to come! It measures 33.25" long with a blade that's 13-1/8" by 8" wide and a massive 3/8" thick at the hilt. It's an older piece, too, made in the old bat style with its carbon steel blade hafted with a solid American walnut handle over a full and hidden rat-tail ... moretang, affixed at pommel with a heavy-duty nut. At the bolster it is reinforced with a massive iron ferrule to keep this critical juncture strong and tight. Best of all we've had this piece professionally edged and it is now razor sharp in a way that very few knives ever are-WAY sharper than when it was new. If you had to take a swipe at a steer with this you'd most likely behead it. Yes, it is THAT sharp. Condition is nothing short of amazing. As you can see in the photos. As with all carbon steel knives, it must be kept dry, even during use, but this minor inconvenience is more than offset by the superb edge maintenance and performance offered by carbon steel, as any experienced chef or butcher over the age of 50 can confirm. Used to slaughter livestock with a single blow(remember that scene from the movie"Apocalypse Now? and for splitting a carcass into halves and quarters(one could use it to joint the carcass of a rhinocerous) it's the stuff of nightmares, unless you actually needed to use one, in which case it's a dream come true-as fine a tool as has ever been forged to do the job. Antique Wm Beatty & Son Chester PA Meat Cleaver Chef Butcher Tool,Price Reduced!
Up for sale is a nice antique meat cleaver from the WM Beatty& Son company. Likely dating from the late 1800's. Marked with the Beatty Cow logo, WM Beatty& Son Chester Penna. Marked size 2. Logo area needs cleaned up a bit more to see the embossed letters and cow logo better! Blade is huge 9 inches and measures 18" with the handle. At widest point of the blade it is 6" wide and this one weighs a little over 3 pounds. See enlarged photos, needs sanded and polished up, no cracks in handle. A great old tool from one of America’s most prolific edge toolmakers. You will very seldom see one this size, and in such good condition for the age. Just needs proper clean up and re-sharpened. You can even chop down small trees or grape vines with this meat clever!

Measuring 13.25" long with a 6-7/8" by 5.25" blade that's comparatively thin, it weighs in at a very modest and manageable 22 ounces. It's stamped, Wm BEATTY& SON, CHESTER, PENNA, with"2/0, alongside the company's famed logo of a grazing cow, indicating that it's a size#0(the smallest they made was size#00) in the#2 style; the alternative style, 1/0 had a thicker blade. A"market cleaver" like this would have been forged for use primarily in restaurants. Sophisticated home kitchens or in the multitude of neighborhood butcher shops that once dotted the landscape and are now all but gone in today's economic ... morereality of inferior and overpriced meats. There is little it can't do, from cutting chops or steak to whacking a chicken-or a turkey-into its respective parts. It's all quite beautiful and the piece is in overall excellent condition, found here with a full blade and a handle entirely free of any cracks, looseness or other problems. Handle is made of solid, premium grade oak or hickory approximately 1.5" in diameter and beautifully grooved for traction on your hands, with the rat-tail tang of the blade peened over at the end. Best of all, I think, is the grace and beauty with which it has been bolstered. It utilizes a VERY thick steel collar(the steel is 1/8" thick) which has kept the enormous head fixed tight and strong-I have no doubt you could use this item without fear of failure or breakage, despite its obvious age. The blade has been honed so razor sharp I believe you could shave with its edge. Truly. This cleaver is the stuff of nightmares-unless you happen to need a piece for dressing game or livestock, in which case it'd be a dream come true. This large. Heavy-duty carbon steel meat cleaver was made many years ago, probably in the upstate New York by Foster Bros. once one of the world's foremost names in professional cutlery for chefs and the meat-cutting trade. It has been heavily used and sharpened, as you can see, but it does not have any of the cracks in the handle that so often plague older cleavers-leaving it still in perfectly useful condition for professional or amateur alike and if you're someone who butcher's livestock or game you'll find it far superior to anything on the modern market, despite its heavily used state. It's a heavy piece, too, weighing in at well over 2 pounds. It's a piece that I've used extensively for clearing brush and branches while hunting-quartering game. WW2 British Large Meat Cleaver Butcher Knife. Staniforth 1942. Great Condition.
For sale here is a great looking WW2 British Chef's Field Kitchen Meat Cleaver. The Meat Cleaver is in excellent condition. Though it could use some cleaning and sharpening. The blade is quite sharp though and there are no nicks in the edge of the blade or other issues. I assume that the blade was once blued and most of this finish remains though it is more mottled down towards the cutting edge with some wear to the high points. The blade is quite heavy and would be a great use piece. The left side of the blade is maker marked Staniforth Severquick and is dated 1942. There is an arrow proof mark above the maker name. The right side of the blade is unmarked. The handle is wood and is great condition with no issues. The overall length of the cleaver is 16.5" with a blade length of 9.75" and a blade height of 4.5" at the highest ... morepoint. This is just a great piece for your use or collection.
