Cast Iron Sausage Stuffer Restaurant Quality Steampunk! c1900s
Antique cast iron sausage stuffer from the early 1900s. Cast iron. Probably used in a restaurant or butcher shop. Patent July 6. 18_ is etched into one side of the machine. I can't make out the last two digits in the patent date. Weighs 9 lbs. Measures 8" tall. 10-1/2" long(not including the handle) and 4" deep. The lever handle measures 23" long. It extends 16" beyond the main body. I see no structural damage. And the worn surface makes this item that much more interesting. Would be great as a decorative item in a butcher shop. Restaurant, or country store. Also fits into a steampunk décor.

Solid cross grain laminated wood base with all the parts present. The seam on the strainer screen is weak but works and the sausage tube looks to be a piece of conduit with a flare put on the end. Fresh from a central Indiana estate comes this 2 gallon sized Enterprise Cast Iron sausage stuffer or lard press. Seems to be complete with the screen. The foot, the plate on top, no outlet pipie and has the ring to attach it. It does have a crack in the shaft where the screw comes down, it has been repaired with a hose clamp and seems to function properly. I will have to remove it from the bench it is mounted on. The wood handle for the crank is crack free. The threads and gears are all in great shape and cranks freely all the way up and down. It has been meticulously cleaned and given a coat of vegetable shortening( the same type used to season cast iron skillets) inside and out. It comes with everything in the pics. Up for auction is a really neat Enterprise sausage stuffer that looks like it has the original paint/finish/lettering on it. Making quite unique. I found it in an estate in Bella Vista, Arkansas. On the front of it reads"THIS CYLINDER IS BORED TRUE" 4 Qts NO 25" It has all the original pieces with it, although I do not believe the little brass nozzle is the original nozzle(but it fits) The handle& gears turn freely, and the press appears to be in functional condition, though it could use a little cleaning/sprucing up. Up for auction is a vintage cast iron sausage stuffer mounted on a nice oak plank. Both are late 19th century. The patina on both is excellent and this item would look wonderful in your home. Business or restaurant. The lever action still works just fine. This item is vintage and is being sold AS IS as a decorative item. Please view all photos for condition and ask any questions before buying. The item from nozzle to handle tip is 23" the oak plank measures 13" x 9" and is 1.5" thick. The item weighs approximately 12-15 pounds unpackaged. This particular sausage stuffer is stamped"No.1" as well as"SS 7. 8, 9" on the respective lever and lever mechanisms. Probably part numbers applied while being assembled. It is rare to find both stuffer and would may be its original mountain board as distinguishes ... morethis stuffer from other examples. The board itself is well aged and is quite thick. The tree rings from the cut can be seen in the pictures and add a nice dimension to the decorative qualities. A small amount of old termite damage on the bottom of the board but does not affect the integrity of the piece. The stuffer is affixed to the board by 4 original screws. The iron has also been"japanned" and the remnants of the black enamel finish can still be seen on the handle. Japanning" ironware became a common theme in the early to late 19th century in the days before electroplating. The japanning process seen here is the European attempt of vintage Asian lacquer work. Japanning helped make cast iron more visually appealing with a embossed. Smooth glossy finish as well as protect and coat the item from water damage. This stuffer size would be used at home rather than a butcher shop. An 1897 Sears& Roebuck lists this exact design as"No.1 for home use" whereas No. 0(a slightly larger stuffer) would be for commercial use.
