Antique 1890's 1900's Victorian Edwardian Dress Form Mannequin Cast Iron Wheels
This is a fabulous antique dress form/mannequin. Who is a perfect Size 6. The dress form is from the 1890's to early 1900's, during the Victorian to Edwardian era. The top is made of molded cardboard set on a cast iron stand with wheels. It measures approx. 57" high, 55" around the wheel base, 35" around at the shoulders, 34" around the bust, 25" around the waist, and 38" around the hips. I think at one point, there was cloth that covered the corrugated paper mache form, but that no longer exists. It's base is a cast iron pole and wood section. She is at least 100 years old and still in very good shape, just needs one of the wood wheels replaced, as it is no longer there. The base is metal that was painted a black- easily repainted white or another color if it doesn't suit your interior. No tears. Rips or snags. There is a couple areas that have black markings on them. Easily removed with hot soapy water. Overall, clean with the old dot patina marks from aging. One small chip of paint missing near the base of the form as seen in the pics below. Appears that the entire jewelry stand is made of wood with all of the finish having been done in paint. Not sure of the maker, but the patent mark is 1908 on the base; this one has a particularly great look if you are looking for a display piece for your home or business, particularly for jewelry; she is quite"shapely"a larger bust and backside. the fabric cover is quite worn as shown, but worn"perfectly" with scattered holes which were probably moth holes.some rusting throughout, but appears to adjust and move fine; I made the iron cage wider and smaller with no problem; there are some bending to the cage wires and I found one area where it is broken which I pictured; still works fine and minor given the age. She has great claw foot iron feet with four wood and iron casters, all intact. This is a marvously preserved Victorian Dress Form with the original ACME Adjustable size S oval mark. Cast iron legs with wheels. Metal cage dress bottom. Full torso, front and back. 56"inches tall. 36.5"inches on upper metal cage circle. Bust: 34"inches. Hips 36"inches. Waist 25.5"inches. Shoulder to shoulder 14"inches. I bought this from the Antique Shop that went out of business. It is in very good to excellent condition. A couple of ware holes in cloth near arm on one side(see picture) and a small hole on the bottom front in cloth. All of the screws turn and work. It is all original and does need some oil.
