41” LONG TOBOGGAN FORM FOR A CHILD OR DECORATION SLED
This auction is for one Form used to build small toboggans which can measure from 2 to 3½ foot long. These small toboggans are fun to build and will make a youngster(or even a few Teddy Bears) happy as a clams. I have had one hanging on the wall of my cabin for years and it always seems to get its share of attention. We used to try to build a few toboggans during the slack season for something a bit different. It was more relaxing than repairing someone’s Old Town canoe. The width of the toboggan varies depending on the length built. Most of the ones I pulled off of this form were approximately 39” long by 9 ½” wide. You could place four of them on a“normal” toboggan. The one pictured is made of Ash. Trimmed in Walnut with brass screws, and is a representation of the toboggan this form will produce. After placing the cross pieces ... morein the slots. A piece of steamed Ash is clamped to the form and pulled around the curve and fastened to the slats to dry. This is repeated until the desired width is achieved. The toboggan pictured is not included in this auction. Vintage Child's Shoe Form Central Last Co. Mammoth Spring, Arkansas 4" Size 2C This cute little wooden shoe form is from the Central Last Co. in Mammoth Spring. Arkansas and is dated 1960 making it half a century old. It measures about 4" long and 2" high at highest point. It is marked 2C which I think is the size. I'm not sure if the bottom is leather or fabric. We didn't polish or oil it but that would remove the scuffs. ITEMS LISTED AS BRAND N EW have not been tried on or handled by shoppers. They are crisp.
