Here is a great vintage/ antique Acme dress form or mannequin in the Victorian style with a metal cage around the bottom. Tagged as shown. The size can be adjusted by turning the knobs at the top and at the hip level underneath. Measuring about 68" tall as shown(lowering to about 48" at the minimum) and 14" across at the shoulder. Antique VTG Singer Dress Form Mannequin Woman Womens 1947
I was thrilled when I found this interesting dress form tucked away in an old warehouse my husband and I were cleaning out. When I started looking at the intricacies of the stand alone I was blown away. Then as I carefully examined the body form I was more excited to find a date and name on a paper label inside. As you can see on the label. The form was molded from life for a Mrs. A.E. Sruba(as best as I can read it) in 1947, and I presume it was done in New York City. The lady's measurements are 35- 26- 38 making her pretty shapely. Her shape reminds me of Charlotte from Sex and the City, so I have nicknamed her Charlotte. The inside of the form feels a little like plaster but she is not that heavy. There is some kind of mesh cloth in the makeup of the form as you can see it in certain worn areas and places where she has been mistreated. ... moreFrom Hip to Neck measures 28 inches tall. The wooden stand is unique to anything I've seen on the internet in doing some research on Charlotte and her stand. She has a solid wooden base(forgive me that I have no clue what kind of wood) The stand has a slide in the middle that allows you to make her taller or shorter and all sorts of other types of adjustable parts as you can see in the pictures. For the pictures I did not extend the frame as tall as it could go because it would not fit into the picture properly. I also did not measure how tall she could actually stand. The wood is in great shape except for the little neck rest at the top. Which is removable and a little piece in the middle below the hip stays. Those pieces are made from several thin layers of wood which were glued together and over the years the glue has not held up. I put a small piece of tape around those pieces to keep them together rather than glue them because I always hear from antique dealers that if you"repair" the item it lowers the value. There is a foam pad at center of top for convenient pin storage. It has a rotating adjustable height hem guide attached to the stand which allows for perfect hemming. Lot of 3 vintage dress form table top jewelry display mannequins. The 2 with dress covers measure approx. 21" high and the other one is 20" high with a slighter body build. The slightly smaller one is from Canada and has a wooden base with wooden bottom body half. The upper portion of the body is a very hard. Durable cardboard like material. This mannequin has some pin holes from display in it's satiny body cover. The 2 larger ones have wooden bases and hard Styrofoam bodies. These two have some fading to the black body cover from window display and they come with the yellow& black"dress covers" which give them a fresh look. Up for consideration is a very nice old vintage dress form mannequin. Fully adjustable cloth covered formed body with metal base. Unique design. I haven't seen one quite like this before. The last photo shows underneath and inside how it looks and the bolts that can be adjusted. Little tabs on the outside all over that can be pressed to adjust the size easily. Will easily adjust down and base will fold together for easy storage, or use for a display. Great condition with no tears or breaks. Some discoloration to the fabric as it was partially covered in areas so there is color variation. Looks like the top has a bolt missing which could be easily be replaced. Base shows some paint loss and signs of wear. A really great dressmakers adjustable form or display piece in nice condition, offered at a great price! The frame is made of metal, lined with a pretty blue velvet material, blue plastic top cover, adjustable around the bust, waist, and hips. Inside of the form, there are small sections of measuring tape so you can place for the correct measurements. The mannequin was once attached to a pole but not included in this auction. Measures overall 15"in. wide from shoulder-to-shoulder, 9"in. deep, and 27 1/2"in. tall. NICE VINTAGE CONDITION. Here is a fantastic Antique vintage dress form. Complete with lower cage, finial, and cast iron base. The dress form is a JR Bauman collapse a form model 1963. Fabric covered with original JR Bauman logo and the original lower cage. The cast iron base has a foot pedal that locks the height of the form so it could be raised or lowered. A great look for any store prop or industrial loft decor. this dress form is in very good condition, a few small tears to the fabric see photos.
