VINTAGE 1963 Robertshaw Lux Mid century Atomic Starburst WORKING Wall Clock
VINTAGE USA made Robertshaw Lux electric clock. Starburst style is a real mid century item. It is dated 1963 on the back side. We have had this running for 50 hours and it kept great time with no noise or odor. The face is about 9” across with raised numbers against a surface designed to look like leather. Ornate hour hand. There are alternating flower spikes and plastic“leaf” spikes. This is about 28” across with the leaf sections in place. Clean cord. No rust or marks. The gold tone metal surrounding the face has very minor age but this is not distracting and does not show when in use. You may or may not see it during inspection. Nice piece! We believe the timer is from 1960's. From researching other similar timers. It appears that this timer was designed to show the space age era with the knob in the shape of a rocket. This minute minder is a 60 minute timer that you turn pass the 15 and then set to the desire time. Some company history: The Lux Clock Manufacturing Company was founded in 1914 by Paul am Caroline Lux. In 1961. The Robertshaw Controls Co. purchased the Lux Clock Company. The company used the name Robertshaw Controls Company, Lux Time Division. Before 1961 timers were white with red numbers. Different colors were added later. Although the company was sold in 1986. Kitchen timers with the name Lux are still being made. This timer measures base 2 inches and stands 3 inches tall. There is yellowing on the white timer and marks on bottom.
