This is a very hard to find original crankcase oil sight gauge for a Rumely Oil Pull tractor. It in in excellent condition and almost looks like it could be NOS. There are no wrench marks on it anywhere and the 1/8 inch pipe threads are in perfect condition. It has the original drain on it. As wall. It measures about 4 1/2 inches tall overall and appears to be ready to be used on a tractor. It could be used to measure the oil in any crankcase but was factory equipment on the Oil Pull tractors. If you've been looking for one to complete an authentic restoration, here's your chance. It would even be a good spare on the shelf! It's in amazing shape with a wonderful patina, the glass is free from chips or cracks. This is an extremely hard to find original brass crankcase oil level sight gauge that was factory equipment on the Rumely tractors. It is in excellent original condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind. It measures about 4 1/4 inches tall and has the original drain cock on the bottom. It has 1/8 inch pipe threads which are in excellent condition. The glass is good and I believe this is ready to be used on a tractor. These were also used on some Cushman hit and miss engines and could be used on anything that needs an oil sight gauge on the crankcase. The pictures tell the story. The first picture makes it looks worse than it is. In most cases it looks good, but feels rough and when you get it in bright lighting you can see the roughness- paint/ceracote/sand and reblue? It shows some wear on the business end. Nothing major for the age, and a little brassing on the sight probably from going in and out of a bag. Someone stored it wrapped in cotton clothing and it rusted the barrel on the surface, it really looks like it would clean up if anyone knows how I can do it I'm always interested in making more $. Nice little sight glass. Overall good useable condition. Normal surface wear from age and use, will probably need new gaskets before use. I'm not sure of the original intended use, tractor, steam engine I'm guessing. Stamped ILL, Illinois? The ports look to be 1/4" pipe thread. This is a very hard to find original brass crankcase sight gauge for a Rumely OilPull tractor. It is in excellent original condition with no cracks. Breaks, or repairs of any kind. The glass is good and the drain valve works as it should. It measures about 4 inches tall overall and has 1/8 inch pipe threads which are in perfect condition. This sight gauge was factory equipment on Rumely tractors, Cushman engines, and a few other pieces. They are extremely tough to find in the wild or even at swap meets so if you've been looking for one for an authentic restoration here's your chance. The pictures tell the story. This is an original Lunkenheimer brass crankcase oil sight gauge for an old engine or other piece of machinery. It is 1/4 inch pipe thread and is in good condition with no cracks. Breaks or repairs of any kind. It needs a little cleaning and probably new gaskets but that's the fun part. It has just enough wear to give it character. I purchased this in my home area of Central Pennsylvania in the 1970’s from a scrap yard that was scrapping old steam locomotives. The gauge was manufactured by“The Edna Brass Mfg Co. of Cincinnati. Ohio. The gauge itself is 8.5 inches long, 3 inches wide, and 2 inches deep; overall length with water tubes is 14 inches. The bolts on the back appear to be iron. Four Mining Steam Engine Oiler Sight gauge tubes, early Colorado mine Tool room
Great group of four old sight tube oilers from a mining company tool room in Silver Plume. Colorado. These were on display in my former mining museum in Georgetown, CO, from the George Rowe mining toolroom contents that I purchased in the 1980s. George was mayor of the town for years, and mine manager for many of the silver mines above town, including the Terrible Mine and the Smuggler. He used these on his hoists and crushing engines. The one in photo#3 has a unique mechanism, when you turn the small arm on the side of the tube, the whole top revolves and acts as the shut off valve for the spigot. The lengths are 8,7,4 1/2 and 4 1/8 inches. All have fair amount of use, please check the photographs and bid according to what you see. No returns on this historical group. Antique Pyro Perfection Pyrometer High Temp Sight Gage Gauge Brooklyn AMF Tool
Up for sale is a piece of history that my grandfather on my used back in the day at the factory he worked at. My grandfather worked for AMF(American Machine& Foundry) in Brooklyn. NY and he used this instrument all the time to check the temperature of molten(liquid) steel/ metal blends. On the face of the instrument on the plaque in photo#2 you can see clearly that"AMF#1" is inscribed on the plaque. This instrument would have had a leather or cloth strap which does not exist anymore as you can see the screws on the sides of the wooden box where it would have attached. This is model number 4384. I was a little reserved about putting this up for sale because it is such a cool piece and the fact that my grandfather used it but I think someone else might appreciate this much more! So this instrument has a sight glass that you look ... moreat the hot(probably molten or almost molten) material with and while you are holding the instrument steady. Move your head back away from the sight glass in order to look at the temperature reading. The pyrometer can read temperatures in fahrenheit between 1000-2600 degrees F. I don't know if the instrument can still give an accurate reading but I am sure that because it is simple enough you could get it calibrated fairly easily. The box measures 8-3/8" tall and is 4-5/8" deep and wide. The box shows some wear but has an excellent patina on it for that true vintage look! For those that don't know AMF owned harley in the late 70's/ early 80's(not a very good time for Harley's) but AMF is known for their Bowling Alley machinery.
