The name plate is clear on one of the handles the others are hard to read. The handles are about 3 3/16" long x 1 5/32" wide x.995 ID. They are attached by sliding them over a serrated round valve top and locked by a 6/32 screw in the tapped hole at the top. They could be used for other applications with a bushing to reduce the size and a longer screw to lock the handle in place. Antique Radiator Steam Valve By Crane Nickel Plating & Wood Knob From Ad Display
This Vintage 3/4" Crane Radiator Steam Valve Has Never Been Put In Service It was found in an old. Now closed, plumbing& heating supply house. The valve was still attached to a display which consisted of pastel line art drawings of a boiler& a radiator mounted on a wooden panel. The advertisement& wood were under a bunch of stuff& wet. Thus too nasty to save. Too bad, too. It was cool. I do not know the exact year of this antique valve. As the ad was unreadable around where a copyright notice would have been. From looking at many examples of other valves& ads. I believe 1892-1904 is about the date range. This is just a SWAG estimate based on all of the information I could find. This valve is nickel(not chrome) plated. The plating has dings& scratches. As the valve was found on the floor& piled upon with stuff& ... morejunk. Nickel plated valves were often used in bathrooms to match the(then innovative) nickel plated fixtures& drain tubing. The wheel(handle) is a wood composite material. It is dyed. Not painted. The wheel's actually a work of art itself. The disc has a arrow to show the valve shutter's position. Flow direction) The screw is not stuck& the handle comes off. And will be removed for safe shipping. About the composite wheel- In the day. Artisans would make a mold of plaster or green sand. This one was a bit complex, having a recess& some divots for hubs. It's kinda cool. Next they would take fine saw dust& mix it with resorcinol glue. In the day. It was sometimes called'Brazilwood Glue' This mix would get pushed into the mold& allowed to dry. Voila! Instant Knob! Then they would all get sick from the dihydroxybenzene in the glue. Why not just use brass. Since the valve is brass? It would get too hot to grab. Why not plain wood? My guess is the heat would dry it& crack it. Or- Labor to turn. Measure, mark, drill, polish vs molding it? The tailpiece has lands inside to allow the use of an inside spanner wrench. VINTAGE ANTIQUE CRANE ANGLE VALVE TRAIN RR STEAM PUNK WATER RADIATOR 3/4" NOS US
This auction is for the antique vintage 3/4" NPT IPS Crane Radiator Steam/ Water Valve shown. It has never been put into service. It was found in an old. Now closed, plumbing& heating supply house. The valve was still attached to a display which consisted of pastel line art drawings of a boiler& radiator mounted on a wooden panel. I do not know the exact year of this antique valve. As the ad was unreadable around where a copyright notice would have been. From looking at many examples of other valves& ads. I believe 1900-1928 is about the date range. This valve is nickel(not chrome) plated. The plating has dings& scratches. From shelf wear over the years. However it shows no signs of ever being used: no corrosion, no wrench marks, etc. Nickel plated valves were often used in bathrooms to match the(then innovative) nickel ... moreplated fixtures& drain tubing. The handle is a wood composite material. It is dyed. Not painted. The disc has a arrow to show the valve shutter's position. Flow direction) The screw is not stuck& the handle comes off. About the composite wheel: artisans would make a mold of plaster or green sand. This one was a bit complex. Having a recess& some divots for hubs. Next they would take fine saw dust& mix it with resorcinol glue. It was sometimes called'Brazilwood Glue' This mix would get pushed into the mold& allowed to dry. The brass shutter or sleeve is fine& opens for 100% flow. There is a small relief vent hole in the shutter to prevent banging when condensation gathers. This is a fully functional valve. It was tested at 25 psi to verify it did not leak and that it would close as desired. The valve performed perfectly. USA 79, all are 1/8" except for the AVS 250 which is larger. These are all working and in good condition but could use a bit of polishing before use, thanks for looking.

Detroit diesel engine 4-71 power unit 4 valve clutch radiator great runner lo hr
A few months ago I pulled this 4 71 off a fox ensilage chopper that had been sitting in the back of a shed for 20 years or so. And stored the engine in my shed, Just pulled it out today, set a temporary fuel tank on it with fresh fuel, bled the filters and it fired right up without even using starting fluid. It doesn't slobber, miss or anything, just purrs away, No smoke or blow-by, its running in the pictures) I put a mechanical gauge on it and it has 50 lbs oil pressure at idle. It has a clutch on the back, along with a"live" shaft. Comes complete with the radiator, clutch, skid and sheet metal, as you can see, it still has the dust on it from being in the shed, I just blew it off with air a little, I didn't power wash or anything so you can see just what it looks like. I removed the tach from the machine too, and it shows ... more2600 hrs which I'm sure is right. I have a video of it running on my phone if you would like to hear it run I can text that to you. Pick up would be best, I could set it in the back of a pickup with my skid loader, I'm guessing it weighs a little over 2500# Call me(Todd) if you have any questions about the motor or pickup. 4O2432964O You won't be disappointed with this engine, its ready to go back to work.
