Recently found here in Maine at a small estate auction. An original circa 1933 real photo postcard showing Penobscot Indian Chief Howard Ranco. Unmarked postally. NOKO stamp box which dates to 1907-1934. Measures 5.3" x 3.5" Good condition. Slight bowing of card which will flatter when inserted in album. Overall a rather interesting Penobscot Indian RPPC. This is for a lot of 4 vintage brass Post Office box doors. There is one. Corbin door dated 1966, one Oro Mfg Co. door dated 1965, one American Device door dated 1962, and one Ranco door dated 1968. Three of the doors are missing the glass and one has plexiglass but are otherwise complete. The combination lock on each door works good. The doors are used and have normal wear. They all need cleaning and polish to look really good. The combination is included for all four doors. Each door measures approx. 5" high and almost 3 3/4" wide including the frame. NATIVE AMERICAN CARVING PENOBSCOT FRED RANCO MAINE
A very interesting carved tree fungus. Shelf fungus. I have never before seen one carved before. The chip carving along the outside edge looks like a combination of carving and wood burning. The bird and dogwood flowers( are outlined and painted. I have read that Fred Ranco was a noted Penobscot carver, he died several years ago. The fungus is attached to a piece of pine that is also slightly carves and it is signed on the back in pencil.

Needs restoration to play properly. Still makes sounds. Looks like mother of pearl. Beautiful designs. Case and straps are worn. 24 large keys. 17 small keys, 120 base keys. The accordion part of it looks pretty good. I received this info from a company in England: Your accordion is pre-war. Around the 1930s I'd say, and made in Vercelli, Italy. The Ranco make was one of the best of its time but they are only worth what someone is willing to pay. From what I've seen as it’s a Ranco you could find a collector who is willing to pay a bit more. Some of the mother of pearl? is peeling from the keys. Does not seem to have any cracks or breaks or damage by mis-handeling. Beautiful designs and artwork. It is just amazing to hold this instrument and look at it closely. Great to be a display peice in a resturant or a store just as is.
