I didn't see any dirt in or on it and the valve moves like new so I don't think it was used much. It did not leak when I tested it. 1960s Vintage LUTZ 4" Forestry Compass with Sights in Leather Case, Japan
Interesting old compass came with some Forestry Department surplus. 4" dial and several scales. Fold up sights with good wire. Basic function is good and it seeks north easily. Small knob on bottom locks needle. Level vial is cracked and dry. Vial assembly unscrews from bottom so you may be able to replace it. Adjustable for declination. Threads for mounting on a staff appear to be 1/2" very fine thread. Leather case has a place to hold mounting adapter but I do NOT have it. What makes this group stand out is that it is complete and untouched. With his original unit photo that has a clear image of him, badges and other pieces. It is always nice to find a named medal pair with the corresponding wrist bracelet with the same number as well, and even harder to find a set with the photo of the soldiers unit included! This is an easily researchable group that would be interesting to dive into, as many WW1 Canadian soldiers changed units/battalions frequently. Vintage US Forestry Logger Miner Hard Hat Superlite Fibremetal Aluminum
Up for your consideration is a vintage SuperLite Fibremetal aluminum logger’s hard hat that has two US Forest Service decals. There are three metal clips along the outside crown of the hat. But I have no idea what their original purpose was. The decals have a few scratches from years of use and the chippy leather headband has definitely seen better days. A few small pea size dents. But nothing major. Needs a good cleaning but it’s a really great find which looks great on the shelf! Best of luck and thanks for your interest!
