I couldn't unscrew the three knobs from the shaft. So I didn't try to force them. All I could find was 2 pretty small nicks on the glass- One on one knob and one on another. Glass centers are fine but for one. A couple dark spots that I could see when inspecting. They all look like the same pattern but for the collars. All are 2 inches across. Vintage Japanese Wood Door or Window Pair w Cherry Blossum Glass or End Table
This is a pair of Japanese sliding windows with a brass screw lock in the middle The lock works very well. It hangs down when not in use and when it is locked it is lifted up. Pushed into the hole and then it locks into the other window by turning it clockwise and screwing it in. It's pretty much a standard way of locking windows in the more traditional houses/ buildings. The glass is easy t take out and clean. It slides out from a groove in between the front and back. The glass is an older style patterend glass with cherry blossums imprinted in it. These could also be made into a pair of end tables. They are 22 1/2 x 16 inches and 1 1/4 inches wide. They weigh 8 1/4 pounds. We have other antique/vintage Japanese items on our ebay site. The diameter of the handle is 38mm. I would estimate they are Victorian. They are in good condition except one of the handles has a small chip on one of the cut glass corners, but when in position, this will not show. This is a really nice four door quartersawn oak bookcase-2 glass doors and 2 blind doors. When I original purchased this cabinet I thought it was a Danner sliding door bookcase. I am not so sure of that. May have been made by another company(Globe) but has the same type operation. Two doors on each stackable section slide back and forth. Adjustable shelf in each section. We have refinished this piece and it is in excellent condition with a smooth and even finish. Original wavy glass and also note the brass handles-rather Arts& Crafts style I would say. Also from the same estate I purchase an almost identical unit but it has four glass doors, two on each section-my stock number 14477.
