Vintage Cut Glass and Brass Door Furniture/Knobs; Probably Victorian
Some beautiful Victorian style door furniture. I have four different knobs for doors of cabinets and room doors. The brass one. In picture five, has a small screw on it for a attachment(in the picture it is attached to a cork) The others are all glass with flat cut triangles, probably cut on a lapidary wheel. The knob in the second picture is the largest, measuring approximately 4 cm in diameter, it attaches by a screw glued into the glass. The knob in the third picture measures about 3.5 cm in diameter. It has a fluted neck attached to a brass fitting and can be used to open a door. The knob in the picture four is attached to a bolt which used to hold the knob tight. This also measure about 3.5 cm diameter but is not the same shape as the others. As usual with items of this age all parts look as though they have been hand made. Vintage Glass Door knobs, Purple 12 sided
Vintage Glass Door knobs. Purple 12 sided Neat vintage door knobs. One is Purple and the other one is clear. Both are 12 sided. No chips or cracks that I can see. There is some rust on and wear on the metal parts. 2" diameter and about 6 1/2" long. This might be the type of glass that turns purple and the clear one might turn purple if it is left in the sun. But I am not sure. The clear one has a slight hint of purple, and is not as bright white as the other ones that I have that are clear. So that is why I think there is a chance this could turn purple. But again, just a guess. Both have some small bubbles inside the glass which I think are kinda neat. Please look at all pictures. They are part of the discription. You will be getting what you see. The door is made of solid Douglas Fir and is painted on both sides. The door has 2. Arched"tombstone" style windows with ORIGINAL, wavy glass-incredible to think that it survived for well over 100 years! The glass has bubbles, dimples, and the charming, uneven"wavy" surface that only antique glass has. Below the windows are 2, vertical raised panels. Also, notice the beautiful, bold applied(raised) molding on the exterior side of the door-what a great accent! Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However. The glass is secured with glazier's putty on the interior side of the door. Most of the putty is still intact. But a significant amount is missing. New pine hewn from 10- 20 year old trees doesn't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old has. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. Also. Please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. It’s made of solid heart pine and has a unique arrangement of 10, true-divided, glass lites. It looks as if the door was once a traditional. 15-lite French door, but at some point, someone replaced 2 rows of glass, molding, and mullions, with 1 large lite. Restoration: At the point of salvage. The door was completely stained, missing molding, and was without hardware. Since then, we’ve stripped it, added molding around the large, single lite, and added hardware. The molding we added looks lighter in color now. But once you stain the door, it will blend in. Hardware: We added some vintage hardware to complement the door’s style. It’s equipped with a mortise lock with key. 2 glass knobs with brass stems, ... more2 copper-plated brass escutcheons, and 2 brass-plated, ball-tip, steel hinges. ANTIQUE GLASS DOOR KNOB ASSEMBLY W/ BRASS KEY PLATES, SARGENT LOCK AND ONE KEY
We found this item on a very old door stored in the barn. This estate has yielded many locks and hardware pieces. This is the first one we have found all intact, it was on an old warped solid wooden door that belonged to one of the houses that was at one time on this estate. Here I have a Sargent lock mechanism with two solid glass door knobs. The glass door knobs are free of chips or cracks or any damage. The door this was on has been in the barn for at least 70 years, the house it came from was built around the turn of the century. There are bubbles trapped in the glass door knobs. I had found a can of antique BRASSO brass cleaner. Which I used on all the metal pieces of this assembly, and the brass came out really nice. Being an amateur clock restorer. I took the Sargent lock apart and put oil inside, the ONE key we found with this now ... moreworks great at moving the" deadbolt" back and forth. Nice intact find for a special door in an Antique/ Vintage house. The door knobs measure 2' wide X 1 1/8 deep. Other measurements are in the pictures. Check out my! Replacement Door for Victorian Wall Cabinet Beveled Glass (Eastlake style)
REPLACEMENT DOOR FOR A VICTORIAN WALL CABINET WITH BEVELED GLASS I made this door about 10 years ago for a Victorian Eastlake wall cabinet that the door was missing from. I looked at doors on other Victorian cabinets and made this using the same style construction that they had used. This door will fit a 14 1/2" x 10 1/2" opening. It is 3/4" thick. It is made of poplar wood as this is a good wood for painted furniture. The door has beveled plate glass and the hardware is solid brass. There is nothing wrong with this door. After a 10 year search I found an original door and that's why I'm selling this one. It has served its purpose well over those years. When mounted on a cabinet it does look great! Great vintage pair of white milk glass door knobs with either metal or cast iron hardware. They are in overall good vintage condition. With some signs of usage and wear, as shown in the pictures. One of the handles has a chip as you can see in the photos. Please look at the pictures closely. They all measure around 5 3/4" from handle to handle, the metal shaft piece is 4" long. Antique Clear Glass 12-Point Door Knob w/ Pewter-Tone Base
This door knob is of clear glass. It's shaped with 12 ribbed sections on the top and sides. It's edges are smooth. It's not perfect. There are two folds/cuts in the glass on the side of the knob(see photo) these look as though they may have been manufacturing flaws versus damage. There are no chips. The knob has a diameter of 2 inches. The base has a pewter look to it- a dull silver. I do not actually know what metal it's made of. I can say that this metal is magnetic. There is some paint at the threads- this may come off for someone who knows what they're doing.

There are two additional knobs included that are not part of the set but look almost alike for a total of 14 knobs or 7 sets. Imagine these gems connected to your doors inside your house! Have no idea what this is. Must have been used to display something. 3 Glass sides and a glass shelve. Two of the beveled glass sides are not in. This is very very dirty and in truely awful shape. This is quite a nice hanging walnut corner curio cabinet. Might be called a china cabinet or display shelf. Piece has a beveled glass door and spindle gallery top and fancy bottom. GLASS DOOR KNOBS ART DECO FACE PLATES AND LOCK SET NICE SHAPE
Glass knobs measure 2 inches across. One has 1/8 inch chip on edge, nothing that takes away from the handle, I found it by feel. They both have a light yellowish tint, similar but not as dark as a canary diamond, that was very hard to photograph. I don't think it's because of age, but I am no expert. The plates measure 1 1/2 inches wide and 6 inches long. The lock set 3 1/8 x 3 1/2 inches, not including the edge cover, which measures 5 1/2 inches x 3/4 inches.
